Objective: Analyze and summarize the clinical characteristics of patients with Bungarus multicinctus snakebite poisoning, and provide a reference for the clinical optimization of the treatment in neuro venomous snakebites. Methods: Collected and compiled the complete case data of 58 patients with Bungarus multicinctus snakebite poisoning admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University and other cities and counties in Guangxi District from August 2012 to December 2019,and retrospectively analyzed the patients with Bungarus multicinctus snakebite poisoning. The clinical characteristics of poisoned patients were divided into 41 cases in group A(Treatment time < 6h)and 17 cases in group B(Treatment time ≥ 6h)for statistical analysis according to the treatment time.In addition, according to the time from the snakebite to the occurrence of respiratory failure, the patients were divided into group a(Time of respiratory failure < 12h)and group b(Time of respiratory failure ≥ 12h)two subgroups for analysis.Results:1.General information: In this study,a total of 58 patients enrolled with Bungarus multicinctus snakebite were included.Among them, the male to female ratio was 4.8: 1,the average age was 44.07 ± 14.82 years, the average treatment time was 5.84 ± 5.04 hours, and the average hospital stay was 5.98 ±3.61 days. The probability of tracheal intubation after respiratory failure is70.7%,and the average time for snakebite patients to develop respiratory failure is 6.37 ± 3.35 hours, and all were cured.2.In the comparative analysis of the two groups A and B,there were no statistically significant difference in the comparison of gender, age, occupation, season, time, and location of snakebite(P > 0.05 for each). In the comparison of the composition of respiratory failure, the incidence of respiratory failure in group A(82.9%)was higher than that group B(41.2%),and the average hospital stay in group A(6.73 ± 3.43 d)was also longer than that group B(4.18 ± 3.47 d),the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05 for both).3.In the comparison between the two subgroups a and b,there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of gender, age, occupation, season, time and location of snakebite(P > 0.05 for each). In comparing the difference between the occurrence of respiratory failure and the average hospital stay, the incidence of respiratory failure in group a(80.0%)was higher than that in group b(12.5%),and the average hospital stay in group a(6.73 ± 3.43 d)was also longer than that in group b(4.18 ± 3.47 d).The differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05 for both).Conclusion:1.The poisoning population of Bungarus multicinctus snakebites is mainly found in farmers working in the field, and it is more common in young and middle-aged males. It occurs frequently in the evening of summer and autumn. The use of Anti-bungarotoxin serum and ventilator-assisted breathing were the important methods for the treatment of patients with Bungarus multicinctus snakebite poisoning.2.The median time of respiratory failure in patients with Bungarus multicinctus snakebite poisoning is 6.37 ± 3.35 hour.It is necessary to prepare for tracheal intubation and ventilator-assisted breathing at any time.3.Whether respiratory failure occurs within 12 hours can be used as an auxiliary indicator to judge the severity and prognosis of patients with snakebite poisoning.
