As an important ecological barrier in northern China,the Xilingol meadow grassland has frequently occurred due to degradation caused by mowing for many years.In May 2017,the moderate degraded meadow steppe caused by mowing was selected in West Uzumuqin Banner,Xilingol League.Six kinds of treatment plots were set up,including(enclosure)(CK)plot,application of organic fertilizer(OF)plot,root cutting(RP)plot,root cutting + organic fertilizer(RP+OF)plot,soil loosening(SP)plot and soil loosening + organic fertilizer(SP+OF)plot.From late July to early August each year from 2017 to 2021,We adopted a field sampling method to investigate the plant community characteristics,species diversity,functional traits of dominant species and soil physical and chemical properties of the test sample sites.We analyzed the effects of different measures on plant community characteristics and soil physicochemical properties of degraded meadow steppe to explore the effects of different measures,which provided a theoretical basis for the restoration and utilization of degraded meadow grasslands.The main conclusions are as follows:1.Five measures,including OF,RP,RP+OF,SP and SP+OF,could effectively increase the plant community height,density,aboveground biomass and the proportion of high-quality forage grass in the short term.CK(enclosure measure)was more beneficial to the long-term recovery of aboveground biomass and the proportion of high-quality forage grass.2.After 4 years of RP,the underground biomass of 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm increased significantly.5 years after OF,the underground biomass of 0-40 cm increased significantly.3.CK,OF,RP,RP+OF and SP+OF can increase community richness within 3 years.RP can increase the Shannon-Wiener index and the Simpson indices index after 5 years,and SP+OF can increase community richness and the Shannon-Wiener index after 5 years.4.Measures of CK,SP and SP+OF were beneficial to the growth and development of dominant species in the plant communities.CK have a significant impact on S.baicalensis.5.The water content of soil and soil bulk density are greatly affected by precipitation,and the interannual variation is obvious.The SP had a significant effect on the content of soil P within 3-4 years.The content of soil TOC was increased after 5 years by RP+OF,and the content of soil nitrate-N and ammonium-N were increased after 5 years by RP.
