In recent years, the feeding mode of mutton sheep has changed, and house feeding&fattening has become the mainstream of mutton sheep feeding. However,in view of the shortage of feed resources, the pressure of environmental costs and consumers’pursuit of high-quality meat products, the promotion and application of low-cost and easily available feed resources has important application significance to improve the quality of meat products. In this study, the growth performance, slaughter performance and meat quality of Australian Salmon hybrid sheep with three feed formulations are determined, the effects of low-cost yeast fermented distiller’s grains feed(hereinafter referred to as distiller’s grains feed)and Allium Mongolicum Regel powder on meat production performance and meat quality of mutton sheep are determined, and the economic benefits of the three feed formulations are evaluated. In the experiment,Australian Salmon three-breed hybrid sheep were taken as the research object and randomly divided into three groups(half male and half female),with 10 sheep in each group, including control group(100%total mixed ration),Allium Mongolicum Regel group(the powder added amount being 30g per day per sheep+total mixed ration)and biological group(30%distiller’s grains feed+70%total mixed ration). The main results are as follows:1.The effects of distiller’s grains feed and Allium Mongolicum Regel powder on body weight at each month and average daily weight gain of mutton sheep are not significant(P>0.05),and the effects on body oblique length gain, body height gain and circumference of cannon bone gain of mutton sheep are not significant(P>0.05).The powder has a significant effect on the chest circumference increment of experimental sheep(P<0.05).The chest circumference increment of Allium Mongolicum Regel group is the largest(P<0.05),which is higher than 24.9%and 14.9%of control group and biological group, respectively. There is no significant difference in chest circumference increment between control group and biological group(P>0.05).2.The slaughter percentage of mutton sheep in Allium Mongolicum Regel group is the highest(P<0.01),which was higher than 7.65%and 6.46%in biological group and control group, respectively. The effects of distiller’s grains feed and Allium Mongolicum Regel powder on carcass weight, bone weight, meat weight, head weight, hoof weight, skin weight, net meat percentage, bone percentage,meat-bone ratio, backfat thickness, eye muscle area and rib meat thickness of the sheep are not significant(P>0.05).The eye muscle area of Allium Mongolicum Regel group is the largest(P>0.05),and the backfat thickness of biological group is the largest(P>0.05).The kidney index of biological group is significantly higher than that of the other two groups(P<0.05).3.The p H1value of longissimus dorsi muscle in Allium Mongolicum Regel group is significantly higher than that in the control group(patelltscape 0.05),but there is no significant difference in PH1between the biological group and the Allium Mongolicum Regel group. The feed of distiller’s grains and Allium Mongolicum Regel powder have no significant effects on the water retention of mutton sheep(p>0.05),but both with the improving trend. The marbling score of Allium Mongolicum Regel group is significantly higher than that of control group and biological group(p<0.01),and the marbling score of biological group is the lowest(p<0.01).The total weight of first-grade meat in Allium Mongolicum Regel group and biological group is significantly higher than that in control group(p<0.01).The proportion of third-grade meat in Allium Mongolicum Regel group is significantly lower than that in biological group and control group(p<0.05),but there is no significant difference between control group and biological group in the proportion of third-grade meat(p>0.05).4.The economic benefit of Allium Mongolicum Regel group is 1.97 times that of the control group and 2.08 times that of the biological group. To sum up,distiller’s grains feed had no adverse effect on meat production performance of Australian Salmon hybrid sheep, which could significantly promote kidney development, inhibit marbling formation, and promote average daily weight gain, backfat thickness and water retention of meat products.Allium Mongolicum Regel powder has more advantages in improving meat production performance and meat quality of hybrid sheep, but its economic benefit is much lower than that of distiller’s grains feed. The rational use of yeast distiller’s grains feed in the total mixed ration has a certain economic significance to improve the quality of mutton, alleviate the lack of high-quality roughage resources and improve economic benefits.
