At present, global warming is the greatest threat to mankind. The main cause is the continuous increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, especially CO2,which upsetted the balance of the Earth’s ecosystems. Therefore, reducing greenhouse gas concentrations and addressing global climate change have become a common concern around the world. The carbon sequestration function of forest ecosystem can reduce the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, effectively alleviate the global climate change problem, and is an important guarantee of the ecological balance of the earth. However, the current method of carbon sink assessment is not perfect, and there is still no research on forest management aimed at increasing carbon sequestration in forests. In addition, the frequency of forest fires leads to a large number of carbon sink losses, which in turn have an important impact on climate change. Therefore,a scientific assessment of the carbon sequestration benefits of forests,as well as a reasonable calculation of carbon sink losses caused by forest fires,is conducive to the formulation and improvement of more reasonable forest management decisions, and it can provide a reasonable assessment of forest fire prevention input. This is important for improving global climate issues, playing an important role in forest carbon sinks, and achieving carbon peaks,carbon-to-carbon and targets as soon as possible. The study looked at Robinia pseudoacacia,Quercus acutissima,Pinus densiflora and Platycladus orientalis, the four main tree species in the mountainous areas of central Shandong Province.Using ton-year,the indicator that reflect the time of carbon sequestration to conduct quantitative analysis carbon sequestration benefits and loss of carbon sinks due to forest fires. The following conclusions are drawn.(1)The carbon sequestration benefits of trees are directly related to the growth rate and site condition of tree species. For trees in the same age,the faster the growth, the greater the accumulation of tree species, the greater the amount of carbon sequestration.Similarly, the better the site condition is,the better the carbon sequestration benefits of the trees.Under different site condition, the order of carbon sequestration capacity of each tree species is:Robinia pseudoacacia>Quercus acutissima>Pinus densiflora>Platycladus orientalis,The life cycle of wood forest products also contributes greatly to the increase of carbon sequestration efficiency.(2)The contribution of forest carbon sinks and the loss of forest fire carbon sinks, which are currently estimated based on traditional carbon reserve indicators, are both underestimated. The assessment using the Ton-year indicator takes into account the length of time of carbon sequestration and combines the measurement of forest carbon sinks with the life cycle of forest products. This makes the quantitative assessment of the benefits of forest carbon sequestration more accurate and the calculation of the loss of forest carbon sinks caused by fire more comprehensive.(3)The longer the forest exists, the more carbon sequestration. In the forest growth stage,we did not see the mature age of carbon sinks,so it should be as long as possible to extend the time of forest harvesting. The faster the growth of tree species, the stronger the carbon sequestration capacity, from the point of view of carbon sink production, should increase the planting area of fast-growing tree species. When considering the carbon sequestration benefits of forest products, the longer the life cycle of forest products, the greater the Ton-year is,so the use time of forest products should be extended as long as possible, thereby increasing the comprehensive carbon sink benefits.(4)The better the efficiency of carbon sequestration, the greater the loss of carbon sinks in the event of a forest fire. For the growth stage of forest trees, the largest loss of carbon sink occurs at 1/2 of its time in the form of site wood. When the total loss value is analyzed, its maximum value is related to the life cycle of wood forest products, and the longer the life cycle of wood forest products produced by forest trees, the longer the forest age is to reach the maximum carbon sink loss.In terms of fire prevention input,we should increase the input of people, money and materials, and forests with a greater role in carbon sinks should pay more attention to the detection of fire hazards, and put an end to serious carbon leakage caused by forest fires from the source.
