With the in-depth understanding of dietary fiber,it is found that the available fiber sources are more and more extensive.Among them, lignocellulose has attracted much attention because it can regulate the intestinal health of animals. It was found that lignocellulose had a positive effect on the growth performance and intestinal health of monogastric animals, but its application ducks has not been reported. In this experiment, lignocellulose was used as the fiber source to study the effects of dietary lignocellulose on the growth and slaughtering performances, immune and antioxidative capacities of meat ducks,so as to determine the appropriate amount of lignocellulose in the diet of meat ducks and to explore the related mechanism.A total of 180 1-day-old Cherry Valley ducks with similar body weight were randomly divided into 3 groups with 6 replicates per group and 10 ducks per replicate. The control group(Control)was fed the basal diet, the LC1 group was fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.6%lignocellulose from day 1 to 42 of age,and the LC2 group was fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.3%lignocellulose from day 1 to 21 of age and 0.6%lignocellulose from day 22 to 42 of age.The meat ducks had free access to feed and water. The results are as follows:1.The body weight gain in the LC1 group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in body weight gain among other groups. There were no significant differences in feed intake and the ratio of feed to weight among the three groups.2.The semi-eviscerated rate in LC1 and LC2 groups was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the cooking loss of breast muscle in LC1 and LC2 groups was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).3.The activities of alkaline phosphatase(ALP)and cholinesterase(CHE)in LC1 group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.05),the contents of ALP and CHE in LC2 group were not significantly different from those in control group and LC1 group, the contents of IgA and IgG in serum in LC2 group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.05),and there were no significant differences in other serum biochemical indexes among the three groups.4.In serum, the content of malondialdehyde(MDA)in LC2 group was significantly lower than that in control group(P<0.05),and the activity of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in MDA content and T-SOD activity among other groups. There was no significant difference in glutathione peroxidase(GSH-PX)activity and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)among the three groups. In breast muscle, the activity of GSH-PX in LC1 group was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in other antioxidative indexes among the three groups. In ileum, the activities of T-SOD and GSH-PX in LC1 and LC2 groups were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in MDA content and T-AOC among the three groups.5.The mRNA expression of IL-6 in the spleen of LC2 group was significantly higher than that of control group(P<0.05),and the mRNA expression of IL-10 in the liver of LC1 and LC2 groups was significantly higher than that of control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the mRNA expression of other inflammatory factors in liver and spleen. To sum up,adding appropriate amount of lignocellulose to the diet can improve the growth performance and slaughtering performance of meat ducks, improve meat quality, enhance immune and antioxidative capacities to some extent.Under the experimental conditions, the addition of 0.6%lignocellulose was better.
