To avoid more dangerous driving behaviors, the researchers explored gender differences in speed control. However, gender difference is not the only factor affecting speed control, and there is a lack of theoretical basis when studying the gender difference of driver speed control. In the dual channel model theory of social emotion cognitive control, when the social emotion system is activated and individuals have the idea of adventure and reward seeking, the cognitive control system needs to suppress, shield and refresh it,and the executive function plays a key role. Therefore, based on this theory, this study combines gender and executive function to explore its relationship and impact on speed control. In study 1,we measured the participants’ gender, age, average annual traffic accidents and driver’s license deduction, and we measured the participants’ executive functions and dangerous driving behavior tendency by using the Executive Function Index and Dangerous Driving Behavior Scale. In Study 2,we did two experiments. In Experiment 1,41 novice drivers were grouped by gender to explore the gender differences of participants’ speed control in different difficult sections; In Experiment2,40 novice drivers were grouped by impulse control level to explore the impulse control differences of participants’ speed control in different difficult sections. The results of study 1 are as follows:(1)Gender can significantly predict speeding tendency, and men’s speeding tendency is higher than women.(2)Gender can significantly predict impulse control, and male impulse control is worse than female.(3)Impulse control is the best predictor of all dimensions of dangerous driving behavior tendency, and "hot" executive function also can predict dangerous driving behavior. The results of study 2 show that:(1)the maximum speed and average speed of male novice drivers in simple road sections are significantly higher than that of female novice drivers.(2)The average speed of novice drivers with good impulse control in simple road sections is significantly lower than that of drivers with poor impulse control.(3)Road difficulty will affect the driving indicators of novice drivers and may have a greater impact on female drivers. In summary, the speed control of male drivers is significantly higher than that of female drivers. There are differences in driver impulse control due to gender, and the impulse control of male drivers is generally lower than that of female drivers.Impulse control can significantly predict speeding behavior. The speed of drivers with good impulse control is significantly lower than that of drivers with poor impulse control.
