Since the 21 st century,the valve,as the key control component in the pipeline fluid transmission system,has developed rapidly in metallurgy,energy and petrochemical and other fields,in which the three-eccentric butterfly valve,due to its simple structure,superior sealing performance and strong applicability,is the most widely used.However,the sealing ring section of the three eccentric butterfly valve is elliptical,which easily makes the sealing ring wear due to uneven stress,and eventually leads to leakage of the sealing side of the butterfly valve.Therefore,it is extremely significance to develop the new structure of butterfly valve.In order to solve the current problems of three eccentric butterfly valve products,ST company proposed the research and development project of fouroffset butterfly valve.By analyzing the shortcomings of the original R & D management mode,introducing the stage-gate system,establishing a set of new R & D management system suitable for ST company,to ensure the smooth progress of the four-offset butterfly valve research and development project,to achieve the purpose of reducing the research and development cost,shortening the R & D cycle and quickly seize the market.The following are the main research contents:(1)Based on the current situation analysis of ST company R & D management system,maturity evaluation and feasibility analysis of stage-gate management,the new product R & D management system framework of the company was formulated through introducing the stage-gate system.(2)A four-offset butterfly valve research and development process scheme based on stage-gate management was established.Completed the gate level stage design and gate level design of the four-offset butterfly valve research and development project,stipulated the main work content of each stage and the output documents to be reviewed,and implemented a strict audit management system for the level to ensure the quality and work efficiency of the research and development products.(3)The effect of ST company in implementing stage-gate management was objectively evaluated.Taking the development of four-offset butterfly valve as an example,the effect of stage-gate in ST company was evaluated from the aspects of development cycle,development cost,development quality and market response.The results show that the implementation of stage-gate management system in ST company can significantly shorten the new product development cycle,decrease the expense of new product development,reduce the risk of new product development failure,and improve the overall benefit and market competitiveness of the enterprise.
