Research On The Application Of Urban Pocket Park Design Strategy Based On The Spirit Of Place Theory

With the rapid development of urbanisation and modernisation in China,many urban environmental problems have emerged,such as the waste of urban marginal land,the lack of green space for urban residents and the low quality of urban public open space.At the same time,the development and progress of society has led to an increasing demand for a high quality,spiritual living environment.People’s requirements for the environment are no longer limited to the external material aspects such as function and form,but more to the internal spiritual aspects such as their psychological and emotional needs,which coincides with the core of the spirit of place.As an urban public space for daily rest and recreation,urban pocket parks can solve many of these problems and have naturally become the focus of urban construction,and have received a great deal of attention.Therefore,urban pocket parks should take up the responsibility of meeting the needs and spiritual demands of citizens,showing the humanistic care of the city and creating a better urban life.Based on the above,this paper takes urban pocket parks as the research object,takes the spirit of place as the theoretical basis,and researches the strategy of creating the spirit of place in urban pocket parks.It not only expands the research horizon of urban pocket parks,but also extends the application of the spirit of place theory.Firstly,this paper provides a detailed overview of the theoretical concepts of urban pocket parks and the spirit of place,and explores the spirit of place in urban pocket parks from four aspects: the interrelationship between the spirit of place and urban pocket parks,the research of the people using urban pocket parks,the performance mechanism of the spirit of place in urban pocket parks and the experience mechanism.On this basis,the design ideas and design methods are extracted from domestic and international examples of urban pocket parks that embody the spirit of place in recent years.In the end,the strategy of applying the spirit of place to urban pocket parks is summarised.This will provide a useful reference for future theoretical research and design practice of urban pocket parks.
