The housing problem exists with China’s development and undermined the national people’s livelihood consistently.Nowadays,the affordable housing system of P.R.China has completed in the stock perspective and turned to a new target of “multi-level housing security”.For architecture and related industries,a swift,easy to deploy and quality guaranteed method for affordable housing building design should be explored to respond to the policy and national development orientation above,thereby optimizing and promoting the national residential security system,and then solving social housing problems.“Generative design”,a new type of architecture design technology,which derive from the combination between CS and Arch disciplines,has the technical ability to create high-performance and stereotyped design productions in a rapid and reproducible way,which has the potentiality to provide a solution to the problem of social housing design.In addition,this technology is different from the traditional workflow and thinking mode,which makes many people think that it can optimize or even expand the methodology of architecture design.The two points above make "generative design " have excellent development potentiality and research value.By uses “optimizing generative design” as the approach and based on the relevant native standards and specification documents,the author plans to rise a complete design experiment to meet the living needs along with solving the actual or historical dilemmas of a factory’s remainder in Qingdao.This paper focuses on two objectives: 1)Explore and apply the model of using optimal generation technology to design social housing;2)Objectively evaluating the attributes of this technology through experiments,including scope of application,pro and con,as a reference for relative academic research or design practice.This paper can be divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the research background,related problems,research status and research methods.The second part is the preliminary work and experimental conception,which is the second chapter of this paper.It is used to summarize and sort out the characteristics and relevant limitations of the technical methods to be adopted in this research,formulate the experimental objectives on this basis,form the experimental objectives,and formulate the experimental scheme accordingly.The third part is the design experiment,including chapters 3,4and 5.It carries out the complete generation work and forms the design results according to the experimental design scheme.The fourth part is the conclusion,including Chapter 6 of this paper.It is to make a more comprehensive evaluation and Reflection on the optimization generation method according to the results produced in the experimental stage and combined with the author’s personal experience in the experimental process and put forward the feasible development expectation and prospect for this technology.Three design results with reliable performance are produced through the experiment,which proves the applicability and effectiveness of the optimizing generative design method in solving the problems of social residential projects design.The experiment also exposed the limitations of this technology when it is used in practical design tasks,which also provides precious experience for the application and development of this generative design technology.
