| Wanxi Dawu in western Anhui is an important carrier of regional culture in Ta-pieh Mountains of western Anhui.The fifth Plenary Session of the 19 th CPC Central Committee clearly put forward the long-term goal of building China into a cultural power by 2035.Under the background of building a cultural power,revitalizing the regional culture of Ta-pieh Mountains in western Anhui is an important theme to promote the overall development of the region and establish cultural self-confidence of the people in western Anhui.However,a large number of unmanaged Wanxi Dawu buildings are facing the crisis of being abandoned or even demolished,and many intangible heritage cultures such as the construction and repair skills of Wanxi Dawu,traditional handicrafts and folk operas have no successors.Therefore,it is urgent to protect the architectural culture of Wanxi Dawu.The thesis of the characteristics and cultural connotation of Wanxi Dawu in western Anhui will play a positive role in promoting the protection and inheritance of Wanxi Dawu and regional culture.This thesis takes the Wanxi Dawu in western Anhui built in the early Ming Dynasty as the main object.Through document research,field investigation and other methods,the formation background of Wanxi Dawu architecture in Western Anhui is summarized,the impact of these backgrounds on Wanxi Dawu is studied respectively,and on this basis,combined with the historical background,the evolution process of western Anhui traditional architecture is studied.And with the theory of micro sociology research site choice,through field investigation,field surveying and mapping in the form of access to the Wanxi Dawu data and status information,then sum up method to typed comb,Wanxi Dawu is divided into three categories according to the main objects used,respectively:‘Manor’,‘Family Groups’,‘Ancestral Temple’.And summarize the characteristic change rules of Wanxi Dawu.The architectural characteristics of Wanxi Dawu are mainly influenced by the neighboring architectural skills brought by the immigration movement,and under the joint action of the difference in natural conditions and the difference in the influence of the neighboring culture,the architectural characteristics are generally similar,and there are slight differences among individuals.Specifically,the architectural elements of Huizhou and Jiangxi can be found in the south of Anqing,while the big house buildings in the north of Lu ’an have more architectural characteristics of the buildings of Hubei.Through the analysis of the formation background of Wanxi Dawu buildings and the specific field research results,the architectural characteristics of Wanxi Dawu buildings in western Anhui and the main reasons for the formation of this feature are summarized from five perspectives,namely,settlement site selection,morphological layout,architectural structure,spatial form and decoration.Then,with regional cultural background and five aspects of architectural form as the contrast object,the difference between Wanxi Dawu and surrounding buildings in Western Anhui Ta-pieh Mountain is compared and analyzed,and the proportion of architectural characteristics of Wanxi Dawu influenced by surrounding buildings in Western Anhui Ta-pieh Mountain is traced back to its origin.And by the method of induction and summary,the formation background of the Wanxi Dawu in western Anhui is linked with the architectural characteristics of the Wanxi Dawu in Western Anhui,and combined with the influence of neighboring architectural culture,the cultural connotation contained in all aspects of the shape and structure characteristics of the Wanxi Dawu in western Anhui is explored.Then it summarizes the main cultural connotation of ‘close to nature,emphasis on family and light on religion’.Summed up the field survey data,the Wanxi Dawu now save roughly divided into:‘specimen’ preservation,‘continuation’ preservation,‘replacement’ preservation.Then,by analyzing the research object,the relationship between the status quo of Wanxi Dawu in western Anhui and the preservation method is studied,and the main development trend of the future preservation method of Wanxi Dawu is explored.Combined with practical cases,this thesis puts forward specific suggestions on the protection and inheritance of Wanxi Dawu architectural culture,in order to provide valuable theoretical reference for the protection and development of Wanxi Dawu architectural culture and regional culture.In this way,the status quo of Wanxi Dawu is sorted out,the basic data database of Wanxi Dawu in western Anhui is expanded,the characteristics and cultural connotation of Wanxi Dawu bulidings are summarized,the regional cultural characteristics of western Anhui are deeply explored,and the protection and inheritance suggestions of Wanxi Dawu architecture culture are put forward.Finally,the regional culture of Ta-pieh Mountains
