Vehicle collision accidents in China are increasing year by year with the increase of vehicle ownership.The proportion of side collision accidents is second only to frontal collision among many kinds of collision accidents.However,in the side collision,the impact resistant part of the automobile is weak and close to the cabin,so the greater harm to passenger is easily to caused by side impact.B-pillar is an important part of automobile side frame,which can resist side impact and sharing the load.The reasonable deformation mode of B-pillar plays an essential role in improving the safety of automobile side impact.On the basis of GB20071-2006 "The protection of the occupants in the event of a lateral collision",based on the theory of car side impact simulation,an automobile is taken as the research object,and the finite element model of the automobile and the moving deformable barrier are established to carry out the side impact simulation test.The accuracy of the simulation model is verified through the analysis of mass and energy changes,which provide support for subsequent research.The side impact of automobile is analyzed,the energy absorption time and acceleration peak value are obtained through the analysis of impact velocity and acceleration.The deformation of automobile is analyzed by deformation sequence diagram,deformation cloud diagram and energy absorption characteristics of key components.By selecting measuring points on the B-pillar,the deformation characteristics of the B-pillar are analyzed from two aspects of intrusion measurement and intrusion velocity corresponding to the key parts of the passengers in the automobile.The following problems are found by compared with other scholars’ results,that the B-pillar of the automobile corresponds to the excessive intrusion measurement and intrusion velocity of the abdominal and chest of the occupants.In response to this problem,it is decided to conduct research and improvement.The simplified and validated model is used to replace the automobile model for research.Firstly,a significance analysis of the ten factors of the thickness and material of the B-pillar inner and reinforcement panel are carried out,by taking the intrusion measurement and intrusion velocity of abdominal and chest as test indexes.Then,an orthogonal experimental design is carried out on significant factors,and the best scheme is selected by combining multi-factor weight method.In the last place,according to the scheme,it is matched in the finite element model of the automobile and verified by calculation.The results show that through this scheme,the intrusion measurement and intrusion velocity of the B-pillar corresponding to the abdominal and chest of the occupants are reduced to a certain extent,which has improved the safety of the automobile in side impact.Through the simulation test of automobile side impact,the safety of automobile side impact is studied,and the structure of B-pillar is improved.The research results have certain reference value for the safety research of the automobile side impact and the design of B-pillar.
