Additive manufacturing,also known as 3D printing technology,as a new manufacturing method,is promoting the revolution of product design and production mode.However,the mechanical structure designed by traditional design method can not give full play to the advantages of additive manufacturing.As a developing research field,design for additive manufacturing(dfam)has become an important issue in the field of additive manufacturing.In this paper,the design method of wheel hub for additive manufacturing is studied.Firstly,considering the design freedom and design constraints of additive manufacturing components,a design process composed of functional requirements,design objective analysis,external shape design,internal structure design and design verification is proposed.Combined with the design requirements of lightweight and high strength of automobile hub,this design method for additive manufacturing is discussed in detail.In the specific design stage,the initial structure of the hub is constructed first.The structure and main parameters of the wheel hub are analyzed.According to the design standard of the wheel hub,the initial structure of the wheel hub is constructed.With the help of the finite element simulation software,the numerical simulation analysis of the wheel hub is carried out.The rationality of the structure is verified by the radial fatigue test simulation and bending fatigue test simulation of the wheel hub.Secondly,considering the design rules of additive manufacturing components,the hub topology optimization design is carried out.Compared with the initial structure,the weight of the new hub is reduced by 20.4% and the bending fatigue resistance is improved by 8.8%.Next,the inner filling design of the hub is carried out.Based on the results of the filling design of the preform,the filling design of the simplified hub model with a filling rate of more than 80% is carried out.Finally,3D printing experiments and mechanical properties analysis were carried out to determine the additive manufacturing process parameters.The 3D printing of the reduced scale model of the wheel hub is completed,which proves that the new wheel hub can be more suitable for additive manufacturing.
