Strategy For Acoustic Environment Design Of Care Facilities For The Elderly Based On Soundscape Memory

With the increasing aging of our country in recent years,the design of sound environment in care facilities for the elderly has received attention from all walks of life.As a trigger medium of recall,acoustic environment plays an important role in recalling the past for the elderly to obtain happiness and satisfaction.At present,the resonance effect and emotional arousal effect of elderly people’s soundscape memory are rarely considered in the acoustic environment design of care facilities for the elderly in China.Firstly,In this study,through consulting the relevant literature,the suitability of grounded theory in this study was determined,and a detailed research program of grounded theory was developed,in order to construct a complete model of soundscape memory characteristics of the elderly.Secondly,the grounded theory method is used to study the characteristics of soundscape memory of the elderly in China,extract the characteristics and preferences of soundscape memory of the elderly,construct the feature model of soundscape memory of the elderly,and obtain the story line of soundscape memory acting on the elderly.Five main categories were determined,including memory generation background,type of soundscape,sound preference,sound evaluation,and emotional orientation: memory generation background: under what kind of background the soundscape is more likely to impress the elderly;Soundscape types:which kinds of sound are included in the soundscape that the elderly have a deep memory of,and what is its distribution? Sound preferences: the likes and dislikes of the sound scene in the memory of the elderly;Sound evaluation: how the elderly evaluate the soundscape with deep memory;Emotional orientation: What kind of emotional orientation will the memory soundscape bring to the elderly.Among them,soundscape type and emotional orientation are the core categories of the five main categories.Then,statistical analysis is used to analyze the differences in soundscape memory among the elderly in different regions,ages and genders in China.The study found that the proportion of the elderly with no deep soundscape memory and those with deep soundscape memory was about 1:3.3,and there was no correlation between the location,age and gender and whether there was an impressive soundscape memory.Based on the main category of the soundscape category,the soundscape memory is divided into three categories: "social soundscape","natural soundscape" and "special soundscape",with a ratio of 5.1:1:4.1.There is no statistically significant correlation between the three categories of region,age and gender and the main category of the soundscape category.There was a strong statistical correlation between region and the seven subcategories,while there was no significant statistical correlation between age and gender.The ratio of positive emotions to negative emotions in the soundscape memory of the elderly was about 1:1.1.There was a statistically significant correlation between location,age and the emotional orientation of soundscape,while gender did not.The elderly tended to remember the unpleasant soundscapes,and there was no statistically significant correlation between the location,age and gender and the likes and dislikes of the soundscapes.Finally,based on the soundscape memory,this paper puts forward some strategic suggestions for the soundscape design of the elderly care facilities,which can be used as a reference for the managers and relevant personnel of the elderly care facilities,and becomes the basis for the sound environment design of the elderly care facilities.
