| China is one of the countries with a high degree of population aging in the world.General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed during the thirty-second collective study of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee: insisting on the combination of meeting the needs of the elderly and solving the problem of population aging, striving to meet the growing material and cultural needs of the elderly, promoting the comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of the cause of the elderly, strengthening scientific research on the elderly, meeting the huge number of elderly people’s multifaceted We will also strengthen scientific research on aging, meet the needs of the huge number of elderly people, and properly solve the social problems brought by the aging population. With the aging of China’s population becoming more and more serious, the participation of the elderly in transportation has further increased, and the safety of the elderly crossing the street has become one of the most urgent and pressing problems. In view of this, this paper takes the elderly aged 60 and above as the research object, takes the crossing speed of the elderly in the signal-controlled road section as the research focus, analyzes the difference of the crossing speed between the elderly and the middleaged and young people, and constructs a pedestrian traffic flow model of the signal intersection with different crossing ratios of the elderly. At the same time, the relationship between different elderly crossing proportions and pedestrian crossing design speed settings is investigated, the threshold values between them are derived, and the operational efficiency of signalized intersections with different elderly crossing demands is analyzed, and the pedestrian crossing design speed settings are proposed to improve the safety of elderly crossing.By manually extracting the pedestrian crossing speed data of signalized intersections in Chongqing, the analysis found that the average crossing speed of elderly people was1.08m/s,while the average crossing speed of middle-aged and young people was 1.18m/s,and there was a significant difference between them. Therefore,in the context of considering the heterogeneity between the elderly and the middle-aged and young people,a signal pedestrian traffic flow model considering pedestrian heterogeneity is constructed, and the relationship equation between pedestrian flow speed and flow rate as well as density at signal intersections with different percentages of elderly people is further obtained by fitting curves to the actual data, and the actual cases are compared with other signal intersection pedestrian traffic flow models, and the results of this paper’s model The results are better. With the help of pedestrian flow to grade the pedestrian service level, different elderly proportion and pedestrian 15% speed data under different pedestrian service levels were obtained by microscopic simulation platform, and the relationship between elderly crossing proportion and pedestrian crossing design speed was determined by using principal component analysis method and linear model with unknown inflection point. The results show that the pedestrian crossing design speed is recommended to be 0.94m/s when the proportion of elderly people in the pedestrian crossing at signalized intersections is between 21% and 41%;after the proportion of elderly people exceeds41%,the pedestrian crossing design speed should be set to 0.86 m/s to meet the crossing demand of elderly people. For different elderly crossing proportions,0.94 m/s and 0.86 m/s are adopted as the pedestrian crossing design speed for signal timing optimization, and vehicle delay, queue length and pedestrian delay are used as evaluation indexes for analyzing the operation efficiency of signal crossings, and the optimized evaluation index data are obtained through VISSIM simulation and compared with the actual situation A comparative analysis was conducted, and it was found that the optimized signal intersection vehicle delay and queue length would increase, but pedestrian delay decreased by more than 50%.The results of the study are useful for the development of pedestrian standards for signalized intersections in an aging society and the improvement of pedestrian crossing facilities. |
