Study On The Design Of Flower Borders Based On The Design Concept Of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony"

This paper takes Alan Chan’s design concept of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" as the basis to explore the application of the design concept of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" to the design of flower borders.The paper uses literature review,field research,case study and induction methods to learn from western flower design methods and theories,based on the culture of the nation and the long history of Chinese garden development to find innovative points.Taking the design of the Changchun Baihua Gardens as an example,the study draws on the essence of Eastern and Western landscaping and combines Eastern and Western cultures to design a landscape with both Eastern ’style’ and Western ’charm’.The main findings of the study are as follows.(1)After a scientific,systematic and in-depth study of the design concept of flower borders and "Oriental Passion Western Harmony",the design concept of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" by Hong Kong graphic design master Alan Chan was combined with the design of flower borders,and the concept of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" was proposed.The concept of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" is proposed.(2)Through the analysis of the expression of the design concept of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" in other fields,the concept of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" in the design of flower borders is drawn from experience and inspiration.To establish the design principles of cross-cultural,reference,thematic and readability for the "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" flower border.(3)Case study reference points: the design of the "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" flower border may incorporate the philosophical ideas of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,the gardening techniques of the classical gardens of Suzhou,and the cultural extracts of the decorative symbols of the installation that show the characteristics of the East with those of the Western flower border.Gertrude Jekyll’s colour theory of flower borders and Pater Odorov’s concept of low-maintenance flower border design can be integrated.(4)The elements of Eastern and Western flower border design are divided into three categories: representation,legislation and philosophy,and are arranged and combined according to mathematical formulas in a single level or multi-level fusion of three levels: habitat,painting and mood,to establish the "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" flower border design formula,and then form the "Oriental Passion Western Harmony The design strategy of the "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" flower border.(5)Using the "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" design strategy to guide the specific design practice of the Changchun Baihua Gardens.The design of the "Oriental Passion Western Harmony" flower border is based on the current situation of the site,which are: "Starry Moon Night" island flower border;"Strange Flowers" corresponding flower border;"Moss "-ornamental grasses.By studying the design of flower borders based on the design concept of "Oriental Passion Western Harmony",this paper promotes the theoretical innovation of China’s flower borders in the upward development stage and the formation of localised flower border design styles.The paper seeks to make use of the ancient for the new,and to promote the sustainable development of Chinese flower borders.
