Hefei Huaihe Road Pedestrian Street is located in the old city of Hefei.It has a long history and integrates shopping,tourism and leisure.It is a typical local traditional commercial pedestrian street in the old city.In the 1990 s,the pedestrian street of Huaihe Road was widened.In 1998,the government adjusted and improved the quality of the commercial format of the block.In 2019,in order to optimize the spatial quality of the old city and rejuvenate the vitality of the old city,systematically sort out and update the crisscross road network in the Huaihe Road Pedestrian District,and propose that the historical relics,historic sites,religious and park resources in the district should be promoted and expanded.The scope of influence will comprehensively improve the quality of the entire commercial district.This article sorts out the historical formation and current development of Hefei Huaihe Road Pedestrian District,sorts out the associations and conflicts between public spaces and commercial formats in the district,and conducts field investigations on Shanghai Xintiandi,Chengdu Taikoo Li,and Xiamen Zhongshan Road.The commercial pedestrian street in the old city area is analyzed and the reasons for its successful renewal and transformation are analyzed,and it provides a certain reference for the renewal and transformation of Huaihe Road pedestrian street.First of all,based on a large number of field investigations on Huaihe Road Pedestrian Street,this article has carefully studied the external space of Huaihe Road Pedestrian Street at this stage,analyzed the contradiction between public space and commercial space,and the difference between the old and new commercial spaces.The localization of small-scale commerce and daily life are in line with consumption.The needs of people with medium and small levels,large-scale businesses are modernized and refined,and meet the needs of people with higher consumption levels.Both have certain differences in the needs of commercial format levels,store space,external space,consumer groups,and business atmosphere.This in turn affects the external space effects of commercial blocks.Secondly,in-depth study of the commercial format in the block and its layout effect in the streets and lanes,using the space syntax to calculate the accessibility of each street in the commercial block,exploring the correlation between the commercial format and the streets,and quantitatively analyzing Huaihe Road The external space form of the pedestrian street is to study the rationality of the commercial format and space matching,so as to reveal the social relationship behind the commercial street,which will help improve the overall vitality of the commercial pedestrian street.Finally,the representative scene space in the block is selected as the sample,and the SD evaluation method is used to evaluate and perceive each sample separately,and the corresponding scores are obtained,and then the investigator’s psychological perception of the spatial atmosphere of the pedestrian street on Huaihe Road is explored,and the space is targeted.Perceived results suggest relevant strategies to improve the quality of the space.In the process of renewal of the old city of Hefei,conflicts between exquisite consumption spaces and living public spaces in commercial pedestrian blocks and conflicts between modern large-scale businesses and local traditional small businesses often appear.This article chooses the most famous traditional commercial pedestrian street in Hefei’s old city: Huaihe Road pedestrian street as the research object,adopting a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods,and the conclusions obtained have certain reference value for the renovation and reconstruction of other commercial pedestrian blocks of the same type.
