The size of China’s blind population is growing,but the attention of the market players to mobility products for the blind is relatively low,and the number of major product types of mobility products for the blind is small.As China’s technology continues to advance,the application of technology modules such as GPS positioning systems and image and text recognition functions are becoming more and more mature and widespread.The current functional design and application scenarios of mobility products for the blind can no longer meet the needs of the blind in this era.In this context,this paper discusses the main functional design of mobility products for the blind,taking the main obstacle scenarios of travel activities for the blind as the starting point,and clarifies the ideas of the product design scheme,so as to develop a more functionally rich mobility product for the blind that meets the needs of the blind.The new product development is based on the actual travel needs of blind people,incorporating the technology modules that have been commonly used in the current society into the product structure,supplementing and improving the functional defects of the original system of mobility products for the blind,further enhancing the functionality and ease of operation of mobility products for the blind,improving the travel experience of blind people,and thus helping them to better adapt to normal life.Based on the cutting-edge literature at home and abroad,this paper compiles and studies the development history and technical function updates of mobility products for the blind.Subsequently,the activity characteristics and perceptual abilities of the blind community are understood,and the main demand scenarios of blind people’s mobility and the mainstream product types of blind mobility products in the current market are summarized.Finally,the main obstacles in the travel activities of the blind group and the subjective product functional requirements of the blind were obtained by combining the questionnaire survey,and the functional design orientation of the mobility aid products for the blind was clarified.Based on the actual research,this paper designed a legged multifunctional blind mobility product with the functions of obstacle detection and warning,traffic information recognition and reminding,image and text recognition,and user’s current target location.Compared with existing mobility products in the market,this product is more portable and easier to use,and can help blind people deal with various difficulties in life,and has a richer application scenario.The gravity-sensing device is designed to be operated without an interface,making human-computer interaction easier and more convenient.It is hoped that this study will further enrich the research framework in the field of mobility products for the blind,and that the designed product structure will provide some help to the design and production companies of mobility products for the blind to improve the quality of life of the blind.
