When masonry structure encounters earthquake, the wall is prone to serious damage, causing the collapse of buildings and other risks, which will not only cause property losses, but also cause casualties. In view of the frequent occurrence of small and medium earthquakes in China,it is necessary to adopt the wall with good seismic performance. The main works are as follows1.Two specimens of masonry wall are designed, one of which is reinforced by steel column, the other is ordinary masonry wall.2.The quasi-static load test is carried out after the fabrication and maintenance of two wall specimens.3.Observe and record the phenomenon during loading. The test data of two walls are compared.4.Two brick masonry walls are simulated by finite element method, and the simulation results are compared with the test results.5.The finite element simulation of masonry wall with steel structural column is carried out,and eight different specimens of masonry wall with steel structural column are designed.Through the finite element simulation,it is concluded how the vertical load, loading height, steel type and steel type affect the seismic performance of brick masonry wall with steel column. The main conclusions are as follows1.The stiffness of the brick masonry wall with steel structure column is greater than that of the unreinforced wall at the same displacement angle, and the ultimate load and ultimate displacement increase by 233% and 388% respectively. After reinforcement, the hysteretic curve of the wall is fuller, the bearing capacity is higher, the stiffness degradation is smaller, the energy dissipation coefficient is larger and the energy dissipation capacity is stronger. It is proved that it is feasible to improve the seismic performance of brick masonry wall by adding steel columns.2.The skeleton curve of brick masonry wall with steel structure column is similar through ABAQUS finite element simulation, and the yield load and ultimate load are almost the same as the experimental data。3.With the increase of loading height, the failure mode of masonry wall with steel structure column will change. The higher the loading height of the wall, the smaller the yield load and ultimate load.4.The increase of vertical compressive stress has no effect on the failure mode of masonry wall with steel structural column.Increasing the vertical compressive stress will make the yield load and ultimate load of brick masonry walls strengthened with steel columns increase slightly, but the overall effect is small. The higher the vertical compressive stress is,the better the ductility of the higher wall is,but the lower the wall is.5.Increasing the type of section steel can slightly increase the ductility of the masonry wall, but changing the type of section steel has little effect on the bearing capacity of the wall, and using larger size section steel can also reduce the bearing capacity.6.Changing the type of section steel has little effect on the bearing capacity of brick masonry walls strengthened with section steel columns, but has no effect on the seismic performance of brick masonry walls strengthened with section steel columns.
