| In the intersection, the contradictions and conflicts caused by left-turn traffic flow are the greatest.Whether its organization is reasonable is the key to ensuring a good order of intersection road operation, and it is also a difficult point in the organization and management of intersection traffic flow.Based on the current status of traffic organization and management of left-turn traffic flow at intersections, using theoretical knowledge of traffic design, traffic analysis, mathematics, statistics and other disciplines, with theoretical summaries and practical cases, the research on the control methods and adaptability of traffic transfer mainly includes the following aspects:(1)Analyzing the conflict characteristics of left-turn traffic flow, the necessity of left-turn lanes and the setting basis.Studying and analyzing the applicable conditions, the pros and cons of organization modes of left-turn lanes which is in left, middle or right on the approach. And the applicable conditions of the latter two setting modes are verified with the actual cases.(2)Analyzing the conditions of traffic flow, intersection, road section, road network under the prohibition of left-turning traffic. And the traffic organization methods of left-turn flow are summarized when with the "no left turn".(3)Analyzing the basic principles and applicable conditions of contraflow left-turn lane, constructing the quantitative model with the parameters of point position, starting time and green time.Meanwhile, the conflict risk proportion and delay indicators of an actual intersection which satisfies the criteria and designed with contraflow left-turn lane were studied. The safety simulation indicates that contraflow left-turn lane is an implementable plan.It can improve the traffic efficiency of left turn on the premise of ensuring safety after meeting its applicable conditions. The paper sorts out the ideas and methods on various left-turn traffic organizations, studies the adaptability of all kinds of left-turn traffic organization, which provides a reference for the planning, design and operation management of intersections. |
