Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)is a wireless network which can provide communication and information sharing for vehicles and Internet. It is the cornerstone of the construction of urban intelligent transportation. The basic conditions for the practical application value of VANETs are: the security and efficiency of message authentication scheme and key agreement scheme. After analyzing the network characteristics and application fields of VANETs,a message authentication and a key agreement scheme for VANETs are designed in this paper. The main research contents and contributions of this paper are as follows:1)VANETs is a network that provides services for vehicles and has higher requirements on the efficiency of message authentication. This paper uses elliptic curve cryptography instead of bilinear pairing to build a simple and secure certificateless aggregate authentication scheme. This scheme can provide conditional privacy protection for vehicles, that is,vehicles always remain anonymous in the process of communication to ensure the attacker can not obtain the real identity information of the vehicle. However,in the event of a traffic accident, authority agency agencies can trace the real identity of the vehicle. The strict security analysis is given under the random oracle model, which proves that the scheme can resist various attacks and has strong security. The performance analysis shows that our proposed scheme has higher authentication efficiency and security level.2)Each node in the VANETs uses wireless communication to realize information sharing. The premise of ensuring secure communication is to ensure the key security in the communication process.VANETs generally uses key agreement protocol to establish group key.In this paper, elliptic curve cryptography is used to construct a secure and efficient group key agreement scheme, which provides conditional privacy protection function for vehicles.Strict security proof is carried out under the random oracle model to ensure the security of the scheme. The performance analysis shows that the calculation and communication cost of our proposed scheme is lower and the efficiency of key agreement is improved.
