Research On The Influencing Factors Of China’s Location Selection Of Energy Direct Investment In Countries Along One Belt One Road

With the new requirements of my country’s development of a sustainable economy and energy structure transformation,more and more energy companies are committed to expanding and utilizing overseas resources and markets,and the “One Belt One Road” initiative has further accelerated the development speed of our country’s energy companies "going out".Along the“One Belt One Road” are 65 countries with different levels of economic,political,cultural and social development.How to determine the investment location is a vital part of the process of my country’s energy companies “going out”.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to explore the factors that influence China’s energy direct investment location choice for countries along the “One Belt One Road”.In this article,based on an analysis of the scale of foreign direct investment in China’s energy sector,investment areas and the current situation with investment organizations,as well as on the basis of the theory of foreign direct investment,first selects the data of 34 countries along the “One Belt One Road” from 2008 to 2019 to construct the expand gravity model to empirically analyze the impact of relevant factors on the location of China’s direct energy investment in countries along the route.Then,taking 2019 as an example,compare China’s actual investment in countries along the “One Belt One Road” with the theoretical investment value to calculate the investment potential value,and classify the investment potential of 34 sample countries.According to the analysis,China’s direct energy investment in countries along the route is largely positively correlated with the economic size of the host country,energy endowment,natural resource endowment and institutional environment,and negatively correlated with the host country’s labor cost,technological level,and the distance between the two countries,except for the technological level.One factor,the other factors are very significant;in the 34 sample countries: 16 are potential development type,and their investment potential can be further developed;18 are huge potential type,and their investment potential has a lot of room for development;finally based on the above analysis results,the following suggestions are put forward for the location selection of China’s energy foreign direct investment: increase energy foreign direct investment;clarify key investment locations;speed up the transformation of energy investment structure;enhance risk identification and resistance.
