Electromagnetic transient simulation plays a vital role in the development and application of power systems.Field-programmable gate arrays(FPGAs),due to their parallel computing characteristics,can increase the simulation speed of electromagnetic transients on the premise of high simulation accuracy,and FPGAs have become an important simulation platform for electromagnetic transients.However,the development of FPGA systems is generally based on Hardware Description Language(HDL).Its low development efficiency and high development threshold cannot meet the rapid design requirements of simulation systems under the background of rapid development of electronic power technology.This paper presents an agile design method for electromagnetic transient real-time simulation systems.In order to improve the development efficiency of the electromagnetic transient simulation system,this paper mainly conducts two aspects of research.On the one hand,by designing a configurable hardware template and combining with a Python script-based hardware generator,the rapid generation of an electromagnetic transient simulation system can be realized.On the other hand,by establishing an abstract model of each hardware module,the design space exploration of the simulation system is realized.The purpose of design space exploration is to quickly find the system structure that best meets the design requirements in the potential design space,so that the configuration parameter values of each hardware template can be determined.The combination of design space exploration and configurable hardware templates can improve the development efficiency of the electromagnetic transient simulation system while ensuring its excellent performance.Based on the proposed design method,this paper implements the FPGA simulation system quickly,and takes two representative simulation systems as examples to analyze and evaluate the correctness and development efficiency of the design method.Both simulation systems are implemented based on the Xilinx Virtex7-690 T FPGA platform.The simulation steps are2 us and 1.2us respectively,and the corresponding simulation scales are 64 nodes and 42 nodes.Compared with similar designs at home and abroad,the performance of these two simulation systems is superior,and they have higher simulation accuracy.In addition,this agile design method can greatly improve the development efficiency of the system,and can shorten the development period of the FPGA-based electromagnetic transient simulation system from several months to 1~2 weeks.
