In recent years, focus on “sustainable development” has driven the development of the architecture field.China has also been committed to the development of green and energy-efficient buildings and the construction of environment-friendly cities. Therefore,it is beneficial to learn advanced design experience and green building technology from abroad for the development of China’s green building field. The translation of scientific and technical texts on green buildings will contribute to strengthening the sustainable development of green buildings in China. The two source texts,a type of scientific text, are selected from Frontiers of Architectural Research, involving articles about architectural technology, urban planning and design, architectural renewal and other fields. The features in the two source texts are embodied in four aspects. At the lexical level, terminology and nominalization are frequently used.At the syntactic level, the passive voice sentences and long sentences are commonly used.At the textual level, the two source texts have rigorous expression, cohesion and coherence. At the aesthetic level, the translation of EST(English for Science and Technology)text requires accuracy, conciseness and logic. Therefore, case studies of the scientific texts on green building from aesthetic perspective has also been analyzed. This practice report is divided into five chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction of the translation task and the background and significance of the source texts. The second chapter introduces the characteristics of the two source texts as a type of scientific text, including linguistic and aesthetic features. The third chapter describes the translation process in three parts: pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation.The fourth chapter shows case studies from the aspects of the lexis, syntax and discourse,as well as the aesthetic perspective. The fifth chapter summarizes the experience of this translation practice and its suggestions for the author’s translation in the future.Through this translation practice, the author hopes to promote the exchange of frontier information and knowledge in the field of green building by showing advanced green building cases from abroad to target readers, and also hopes to provide reference for the translation work.
