The building monolithic-translation is to move an existing building from former spot to a new one, keeping the integrity of construction and usability invariable, which includes vertical and horizontal movement and rotation. With the development of revision to the Law of City Layout , many cities are rebuilding on a large scale. Among the constructions, quite a number of them still have high value for use. Furthermore, demolition of historic constructions will lead to a great loss that couldn't be remedied. This monolithic-translation becomes an effective approach to solve the contradiction and problems appeared in urban renewal course. When the constructions have high value to use and enough space to posit, this technology can move them to the permitted site by monolithic movement and rotation for a short distance. It can not only be satisfied with the layout of the cites, save lots of manpower, material resource, construction fund, but also shorten the project period and reduce the contradiction appeared in the demolition. Because of its extremely economic and social advantages, this new technology has wide application prospects in the future.Because the theory of the building monolithic-translation is not further than the practice, it has not formed any perfect design theory to supervise and guide these project so far. Combined with practical engineering, this paper gives a detailed exposition to the building monolithic-translation engineering's implementation through summary and discussion. it can serve as reference for the future project:Firstly, it puts forward that a safety evaluation and feasibility comprehensiveassessment are needed before the engineering, and some suggestion of reinforcement treatment are needed also;Secondly, the present methods of reinforcement and separation in the building monolithic-translation engineering are summarized, and the underpinning technology of wall and columns are summed up, whose connection methods have been introduced at the same time;Then, through the analysis by ANSYS, a verification of the determination method about the capacity of those which was underpinned by a new structure made up of outer concrete and the reinforcing member in the interface, has been presented, and a comparison of the impact resistance has been given out as well between the rollers made of deferent materials;And then, a method to estimate the rolling friction coefficient of roller and the thrust needed in process of translation and rotation has been proposed, and a determination method of the relative control index , such as the velocity , the acceleration and the limitation of settlement difference and distance difference, has been provided also;Finally, the key design procedure of the building monolithic-translation engineering has been introduced through a practical project.
