With the change and promotion of highway construction concept, highway designers pay more attention to the driver’s visual and psychological feelings in the process of highway design. At the same time, with the continuous improvement of economic development and living standards, people have more spiritual needs for driving environment. However,on the one hand, the existing road landscape research is still in the initial stage, most of which focuses on greening and decoration to show the landscape ecology;on the other hand, the driver’s visual experience and psychological emotional impact are separated, and there is no systematic theoretical support and method guidance in the aspects of artistic style, artistic conception structure and theme selection. In addition, the application of traditional architectural theory in large-scale and dynamic highway landscape design has limitations.Based on the above background, this paper starts with landscape morphology, based on visual experience, psychological emotion and space-time transformation, constructs a multivariant morphological theory of highway landscape, and improves the highway landscape theory and application technology.First of all, starting from the general landscape, the connotation of highway landscape is defined, and then the highway landscape is classified according to the type of landscape composition and the relative position of the landscape, and a variety of highway landscape theories based on the architectural theory are extracted and summarized, from which the purpose and process of highway landscape design are summarized, and the multi-dimensional form theory of highway landscape is put forward.Secondly, this paper constructs the annular band background space, analyzes the aspect ratio characteristics of different background spaces and the proportion of the sky area under the best feeling by analyzing the driver’s visual attention and attractive characteristics;according to the driver’s visual gaze characteristics, obtains the way to divide the visual sensitive areas of highway landscape, and puts forward the sensitive areas and the landscape sensitivity phase. The design method of form elements matching each other.Thirdly, based on visual characteristics and psychological feelings, the landscape art style as well as psychological and emotional needs are used as the guiding factors for the design of highway landscape elements. The angle explores the influence of highway morphology on drivers’ psychological emotions, and analyzes the route selection method of highway corridors based on the formal beauty rules, and proposes corresponding guidelines for route selection. Then, based on the space-time characteristics of visual experience and emotional change, the perception process of highway landscape sequence is analyzed.According to the natural and human characteristics, the method of highway landscape section division is proposed, the total feeling model of space-time is constructed, and the form expression method of landscape sequence organization is put forward. Finally, relying on the multivariant morphological theory and the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, the original highway landscape evaluation system is expanded, and analyzed in combination with engineering examples in Tibetan areas. To sum up,this paper combines a variety of landscape theories,Chinese traditional aesthetic arts, etc.into the highway landscape design, enriching the theory and design methods of highway landscape, laying the foundation for future related research, and also narrowing the distance between the highway landscape research and the traditional architectural research. The improvement of the relevant evaluation system also provides the evaluation method for the actual project cases,so that more about the various feelings of road users are taken into consideration in the evaluation results.
