In response to the policy requirements of comprehensively improving the quality of urban public transit services, expanding the breadth and depth of bus service, and perfecting a diversified bus service network,it can effectively increase the attractiveness of urban metro system and solve passengers’ last mile problem to develop an unobstructed rail transit connection system.Researching the optimization methods of the station and route layout of the metro feeder bus is of guiding significance for improving the passenger satisfaction and service level of the urban public transportation system and meeting the personalized travel demands of passengers. The thesis analyzes the system characteristics of the metro feeder bus system.According to the service area, route layout, operation mode, service object, operation period, and other aspects of the feeder bus,it has been classified and functionally positioned. The length of the feeder bus,the average distance between feeder bus stations, and the connection form with the metro system are analyzed. The time and space distribution characteristics of the feeder bus ridership, and the connection characteristics of the community bus in downtown Suzhou are analyzed. The influence of the direct and indirect attraction range and residents’ travel characteristics on feeder bus stops and route layout is analyzed as well.Based on the complex network theory, the public transportation network model of Suzhou Yuanhe High-tech District is constructed, and the network node degree and its distribution, average path length, clustering coefficient, and other indicators are statistically analyzed to reveal the small-world network characteristics of the observation area.Community discovery based on modularity divides the community, analyzes the closeness of the connection between metro stations and bus stations. The thesis puts forward the evaluation index of the metro station accessibility that comprehensively combines walking, riding, and bus accessibility. The completeness of the feeder bus system of the metro is evaluated to determine the area where the feeder bus system is required. The thesis also analyzes the demand characteristics of feeder bus passengers. The full travel chain of commuting passengers is analyzed, and the symmetry of the travel chain is the basis for judging the commuting attributes of bus/metro/public sharing bus stations. The identification method of potential demand points of feeder buses based on multi-source data is proposed, and the commutation passengers’ full travel chain reverse method is used to identify commuter metro stations and bus stations, public sharing bicycle stations and potential feeder bus demand points in three steps. The thesis analyzes the service range of feeder bus stations in residential areas and connecting range of metro stations and proposes feeder bus candidate station selection methods based on passenger demand on station-level and the minimum station spacing.Demand quantitative models for each candidate station and road segment is also developed. From the perspective of serving passengers, the service level and passenger satisfaction of feeder buses should be improved as much as possible. The thesis aims at the maximum demand for passengers served by feeder bus lines and the minimum travel cost of passengers to develop the multi-objective optimization model.Under the condition of the semi-realistic road network,it constructs a network model consisting of candidate stations-segments,taking the maximum running time of lines and the minimum station-to-station spacing as constraints.NSGA-Ⅱ multi-objective optimization algorithm is used to solve the model and obtain metro-connected feeder bus line sets.In the last part of the thesis, the community of Lumu Metro Station in Yuanhe High-tech District in Suzhou is taken as a case study. The methods of the design area determination, candidate station selection and the route optimization of the feeder bus system proposed by the thesis are implemented on the study area. And the station and route layout of the feeder bus is evaluated. There are 22 route plans generated by the model and the characteristics of the routes are corresponding to the general features of feeder bus routes.
