Mechanical principle is an important technical basic course required for all kinds of mechanical majors,which trains students to master the basic theory and basic skills of institutional science and mechanical dynamics.With the development of computer technology,many colleges and universities gradually explore new methods to improve the experimental teaching environment,virtual simulation teaching is one of the ways.For improving the teaching efficiency of mechanical principles,this paper applies augmented reality technology(AR)to the teaching of mechanical principles,supports the interactive operation of virtual objects to construct the user experience of high immersion virtual reality fusion,provides a new sensory compound effect,and realizes the natural human-computer interaction through the virtual reality fusion can stimulate learners’ interest in learning and provide an intelligent learning environment.Firstly,this paper studies the establishment of virtual object model in AR scene.Because the focus of this module is how to accurately realize the fusion of virtual and real objects,it describes the tracking registration method in detail,including image recognition and 3D registration method.The toolkit used in this paper is Vuforia.Based on the principle of the toolkit,an AR scenario based on single target is constructed.On this basis,an AR scenario with multi-target cooperation is developed,which provides technical support for the subsequent system.Then it studies how to make the virtual object generate motion simulation.Based on the scientific knowledge of mechanism kinematics and dynamics,it creates the AR scene of virtual object simulation movement.In order to facilitate human-computer interaction,it controls the simulation by gesture with the help of leap motion.Then taking the typical planar four-bar mechanism in the course of mechanical principles as an example,taking the textbook knowledge as the design idea and the mechanism analysis as the guidance,modeling,virtual simulation and motion control of the four-bar mechanism were carried out in the AR scenario.On this basis,the AR planar four-bar mechanism teaching system was further developed,and finally four modules were obtained,covering the knowledge points learned in the textbook of planar four-bar mechanism.Finally,the use of the system is evaluated according to the audience object of the system.Through mechanical principles in classroom,teachers and students of the usage of the system,and the usage of students in the class has carried on the questionnaire survey,the result is very good shows that the system can not only help enhance the classroom teaching more interesting and interactive experience,also can improve the students’ practical ability,provides effective learning tool for students after class.
