As a fashionable and popular way of leisure vacation, cruise tourism is gaining more and more popularity. In cruise tourism, passengers(tourists),after satisfying their basic entertainment and leisure needs, are increasingly demanding in terms of value and emotion, and are putting forward higher and higher requirements for cruise aesthetics, which is directly related to users’ voyage experience. In the design, construction and operation of cruise ships, the architectural aesthetic elements of cruise ship(shape, color, external space, etc.)are of paramount importance. At present, there are limitations in the evaluation methods of cruise ship architectural aesthetics in practice, which are mainly manifested in the subjective and perceptual methods, insufficient experiential methods and limited evaluation subjects, thus leading to the lack of objectivity, integrity and scientificity of the evaluation results.Based on the research of the evaluation elements, evaluation system, interactive experience and evaluation process of cruise architectural aesthetics, the latest VR technology means is adopted to build a comprehensive evaluation system of cruise architectural aesthetics with first-person experience as the entry point, which can evaluate the problems of cruise architectural aesthetics more scientifically and reasonably, find out the weak points and superior points in aesthetic design,Identify weaknesses and strengths of design, and thus determine the direction of optimization.Firstly,on the basis of literature research and systematic study of cruise aesthetics, the elements of cruise architectural aesthetic evaluation were extracted and grey statistics method, analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method were adopted to build up an evaluation system for the architectural aesthetics of cruise ships.Specifically,it includes three dimensions: overall appearance form, external space and external color, which are deepened and subdivided layer by layer on the basis of these dimensions.Using the users’ experience scenario as the criterion and basis, the selection and weight distribution of evaluation indexes were determined by grey statistical method and analytic hierarchy process, which provided the basic input for the subsequent fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. Then, drawing on theory of user experience and visual perception and adopting VR technology,a comprehensive evaluation system of cruise architectural aesthetics was developed. The evaluation system formed by the above study was integrated into the VR system, and the visual scenes of cruise architecture and interactive processes were built with emphasis on the experience process and psychological demands of users at different levels in the actual scenarios of cruise ships,so that users could experience and interact with each evaluation element in the virtual environment from a first-person perspective in real time, and make quantitative scores. The system automatically collects, records and organizes users’ evaluation data and automatically generates formatted files. To make the system more in line with design expectations, the usability of the system was tested by profiling the completion of tasks by typical target groups. Finally,a 3D evaluation system for architectural aesthetics of the target cruise ship was constructed with a large cruise ship as input, and the application was evaluated and tested. The evaluation output data of different users were obtained, and the final scores of each level of indicators were obtained through single-factor fuzzy synthesis calculation and score conversion,so as to identify the design strengths and weaknesses of the target cruise ship, which were then traced back to specific design elements, providing a basis for optimising the design. This paper is oriented towards practical needs and focuses on the research and evaluation of cruise architectural aesthetics.A new way of thinking and methodological approach is proposed for the assessment and evaluation of cruise architectural aesthetics, which has theoretical and practical significance. The index system and mathematical model established in the paper can be applied to the architectural aesthetic evaluation of other similar ships with minor modifications according to the different target inputs.
