Study On Inheritance And Development Strategies Of Traditional Villages In Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

Countryside is the origin of Chinese culture,and its regionalism and localism play an important role in China’s architectural culture.Affected by urbanization and western architecture,rural architectural culture has been strongly impacted and lost its way,and the inheritance and development of traditional villages are confronted with great challenges.Therefore,under the new situation,a local research on new architectural development mode and design language of traditional villages is of great significance for their inheritance and development.With an interaction and integration of different cultures and ethnic groups,Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region(Ningxia),a frontier area in history,is rich in village cultures and colorful in dwelling forms.Cultural remains from the Paleolithic human habitation to the Majiayao culture,the Banshan machang culture,the Longshan culture and the lower-layer Changshan culture during the Neolithic period have survived in the south of Ningxia.As the relatively well-preserved existing traditional villages in the south of Ningxia,Hongya Village and Liangbu Village,combining historical culture with architectural research,artistic aesthetics,as well as social and economic values,are of great theoretical and practical significance.However,due to population loss,weak awareness of protection,being short of professionals,large-scale demolition and backward concept of human settlement,original cultural remains of the villages have been destroyed and gradually moved towards standardization and unification in their inheritance and development,which is also the common problem faced by many other traditional villages in Ningxia.On account of the fact that there are few literature and research on traditional villages in Ningxia,this paper explores them by methods of field investigation and analogy,combining with case analysis and induction.To solve the existing problems of traditional villages in Ningxia(represented by Hongya Village and Liangbu Village),strategies and suggestions including improving resource information,establishing perfect protection mechanism,expanding publicity,developing ecological industry and exploring new ways are put forward in this thesis.It is concluded that measures as follow ought to be taken in developing traditional villages in Ningxia:giving priority to the preservation of public opinion and the improvement of living quality,implementing the sustainable development strategy,pursuing development patterns appropriate to the villages,being aware of the modern enlightenment that there is a symbiotic relationship between inheritance and development,as well as following principles of"regionalism" and "integrity" in new rural construction.It is hoped to provide more possibilities for the inheritance and development of traditional villages.
