The rapid development of general aviation(GA)aircraft has benefited from the progress of world-wide industrial and display technology,and the aircraft’s avionics system has gradually entered a highly integrated stage.The complex environment of the aircraft interface has also been greatly improved.The integrated graphic display interface has gradually replaced the instrument display interface to achieve digital and integrated display.Information acquisition depends more and more on graphic display,so higher design requirements are put forward for the interface’s human-computer interaction(HCI)system and visual coding.My country has certain deficiencies in the relationship between the cognitive load and visual coding of the GA aircraft interface.Therefore,this paper is based on the cognitive load theory to study the layout coding,color coding,shape coding and other key coding elements in the general aviation aircraft interface.The main tasks are as follows:(1)Establish a visual coding model of the GA aircraft interface.By analyzing the development process of the aircraft interface,analyzing the display information function and the information priority division,the visual coding model of the GA aircraft interface is constructed.(2)Establish a model of the relationship between cognitive load and visual coding of aircraft interface.Through the brief description of cognitive load theory,the cognitive load factor model and the hierarchical model are established to construct the relationship between the visual coding elements of the aircraft interface and cognitive load.(3)Summarize the experimental conclusions of the information layout,color application,icon characteristics,character type and shape characteristics of the aircraft interface.The subjective evaluation method and eye tracking method are used to carry out experimental research on interface visual coding,and the characteristics of related coding methods are summarized.(4)Summarize the principles of the visual coding design of the GA aircraft interface centered on cognitive load,and optimize the existing interface and visual coding design.Finally,the design verification is carried out through the eye tracking method and the subjective evaluation method to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of the optimized design.The research in this paper provides design principles for the visual coding of GA aircraft interface,and provides creative research ideas for aircraft interface design.From design perspective,it has made certain contributions to balance the cognitive load level of pilots and improve the airworthiness and safety of aircraft.
