| Safety signs play a very important role in people’s evacuation during emergencies.In order to explore the suitable color combination for subway safety signs,Zijing Mountain subway station was taken as the prototype,four safety signs of different color combinations(black and green,red and white,yellow and black,blue and white)are designed,domestic and foreign standards and research were referenced,and the virtual reality,eye-tracking technology,and physiological indicator measurement was used in the virtual subway fire escape experiment.A total of 96 participants with equal distribution in gender and four different color combination groups were recruited.Participants’ eye-tracking and physiological data(heart rate,skin conductance)were real-time recorded through Ergo LAB V3.0 in the whole experiment.The relationship between the color of safety sign and escape performance,eye-tracking indicators,physiological indicators and the questionnaire results is discussed respectively through SPSS 22.0.The main conclusion can be concluded as follow:(1)For escape performance,participants in “black and green” group had the best evacuation escape performance,namely,the smaller total escape time and the smallest total escape distance.For eye-tracking,the color combination of “black and green” safety signs had the highest visibility and the lowest cognitive load.For physiological indicator changes,participants in the “black and green” group had the highest physiological arousal and strongest immersion.For questionnaire results,participants had the highest degree of approval for the safety sign of the color combination of “black and green”.In summary,among the four color combinations in the experiment,the combination of “black and green” is the most suitable color combination for safety signs in subway stations.(2)After excluding the effects of the participants’ familiarity with the Zijing Mountain,participants’ experience with VR or game,and other factors on the escape performance,and it’s found that in VR subway fire escape scene,in the age range of18-28 years,the overall escape performance of males was better than that of females,and the total escape time and distance of males were smaller than that of females.This paper explores the appropriate color combination of safety signs in subway station from multiple perspectives,such as escape performance,eye-tracking data,physiological indicators and questionnaire results,and the corresponding conclusion is more convincing.The research will help to promote the functional construction of the existing subway fire protection system and emergency evacuation,and provide references and suggestions for the revision and improvement of emergency management and relevant laws and regulations of safety signs in the subway and relevant government departments. |
