| With the rapid development of Chinese cities, significant changes have taken place in living space and employment space which compose the urban spatial structure. While creating employment in downtown, the pressure of housing has gradually moved the living space outwards. This mobility has diversified and complicated the way of work and life, which has led to a series of problems of urban development, such as traffic congestion,long-distance commuting, isolation of living space and unbalanced distribution of public facilities. Therefore, how to plan the urban spatial pattern, optimize the structure of job-housing,and reduce the commuting cost of have become important issues in urban research. As one of the core cities in the Yangtze River economic belt,Wuhan has experienced rapid urbanization due to the development strategy of the Yangtze River economic belt and the rise of the central China. Therefore, analyzing the spatial pattern of job-housing space and commuting space has great significance for optimizing the spatial distribution of Wuhan and promoting sustainable urban development, which reflects the internal differences of urban space. Also, this analysis can provide a typical case for the study of job-housing space and provide technical support for the improvement of urban commuting, traffic congestion, environmental pollution and life quality.Based on Wuhan census data,Wuhan economic census data, large sample commuting data, network map POI and other multi-source data, this paper builds a multi-scale and multi-dimension research framework of job-housing space and commuting space under the perspective of "quantity-space-behavior".Through the spatial analysis methods such as kernel density estimation, hotspot analysis, direction distribution analysis and grouping analysis combained with jobs-housing Lorenz curve,jobs-housing balance index and spatial mismatch index counting sector differences, this research describes a multi-scale and multi-dimensional description of job-housing space in Wuhan metropolitan area, which reflects the quantitative characteristics, spatial characteristics and interrelation of job-housing space. On this basis, the commuting pattern is described in terms of the flow and distance of commuting behavior, which identifies the commuting direction and commuting pattern on the group scale. In addition, this paper studies the commuting distance statistics and spatial distribution characteristics on multi-spatial scales, which include individual scale, traffic analysis zone(TAZ)scale and group scale, analyzes the residents’ commuting distance characteristics of Wuhan metropolitan area and obtains five different commuting characteristics zones through cluster analysis on TAZ scale.Furthermore, this research discusses the differences in commuting patterns from individual perspectives that include socio-economic attributes and travel modes and regional perspectives which contain job-housing balance, land use structure, job diversity and transportation accessibility.By study on spatial pattern of job-housing space and commuting space in Wuhan metropolitan area, this paper provides suggestions on optimizing the urban development which make the urban development healthier. |
