Research On Modern Logistics Development Strategy Of Taiyuan Railway Administration

Railway transportation has always been an important method for the bulk transportation in China.However,with the rapid development of society and economy,the supply and demand structure has been continuously optimized and adjusted.The traditional operation methods and management concepts of railways have been out from the modern times.If the railway wants to achieve sustainable development,it must provide more functions and customer service with high-quality modern logistics services.The Taiyuan Railway Administration(TRA)has the largest freight volume in China,has also made some attempts to develop modern logistics,but the return is not obvious.Choosing a more accurate modern logistics development strategy has become the primary task of TRA’s transformation and development.From a national perspective,how to develop modern logistics has become a common problem faced by all Administrations under the China Railway Corporation.This article takes the TRA as the research object.By sorting,collecting,and analyzing relevant data,it first introduces the typical modern logistics development achievements of the TRA in recent years through three aspects: logistics parks,information services,and green logistics.In addition,there are also problems in transportation organization,new technology applications,customer service,dedicated railway management,and strategic planning.Then use SWOT analysis to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of railway transportation and road transportation,and explain the opportunities and threats that TRA faces in developing modern logistics.Later,based on the results of SWOT analysis and the actual situation of TRA,a more feasible modern logistics development strategy was designed in two phases,short-term and medium-long term: improve transportation capacity and optimize management in the short-term to ensure that it can withstand the pressure from the “Road to Rail”;use more diverse business models in the medium and long term to expand value-added services and adapt to the transportation of “White Goods”.Finally,the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward according to the formulated strategy.
