Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)has been widely used in military and civil fields due to its small size,flexible application,good concealment and strong adaptability.However,with the increasingly complex application environment of UAV,the performance requirements of UAV are getting higher and higher,and individual UAV can not meet the requirements of practical application.Therefore,the network of UAV has become one of the main directions of the development of UAV technology.Routing protocol is the key technology to realize UAV network.Therefore,it is necessary to propose a more suitable routing protocol for practical scenarios according to the characteristics of UAV network.For the existing routing protocols,the routing protocols of mobile Ad hoc networks are suitable for applying to UAV networks due to their outstanding advantages such as self-organization,dynamic topology and destructiveness.However,due to the characteristics of UAV network,such as high speed movement,fast topology change,node joining or leaving continuously,the existing mobile Ad hoc network routing protocol cannot be directly applied to UAV network.Therefore,this paper proposes a routing protocol---MEDA-OLSR,which is suitable for UAV network,aiming at the problems of frequent topology change,short link time and limited node energy.The protocol consists of two parts: cluster structure and routing mechanism.In the cluster structure,the cluster head bears most of the work of the network,so the clustering algorithm has a direct impact on the performance of the UAV network.The clustering algorithm based on weight can take more factors into account,which is more suitable for application in UAV network.Based on considering the UAV network energy limited,topology changes fast and high mobility,we improve clustering algorithm based on weight and propose MEDA clustering algorithm,considering factors such as node energy,mobility,connectivity and local stability of the link in the election of cluster head.This can choose the appropriate node as the cluster head,effectively improve the stability of the cluster structure,let UAV network extend more freely and won’t have great pressure on network.In terms of routing mechanism,the mobile Ad hoc network has on-demand routing and table-driven routing.But according to the characteristics of the UAV network,due to the table-driven routing can obtain link-state information in the routing process,and by maintaining the routing table can timely response routing requirements,therefore it is more suitable for UAV network,so the choice of routing mechanism is table-driven routing.Based on the in-depth study of the table-driven routing protocol OLSR,a set of routing mechanism for establishing and maintaining routing tables is established by combining with the clustering structure.Finally,the proposed MEDA-OLSR protocol is tested by NS3 simulation platform,and its performance is compared with AODV and OLSR protocols.Through the analysis of simulation results,it can be seen that the network function of the proposed MEDA-OLSR protocol is obviously better than the existing AODV and OLSR protocols,and it has practical value.
