With the promotion of the ocean development,marine transportation become more and more important.And comparing with the traditional vessels,Semi-submersible transport vessels have obvious advantages like high efficiency,strong endurance,and conveniently load and unload,which make Semi-submersible transport vessel been used in more widely regions,and more technological.But causing the special foundation and less total holdings of Semi-submersible transport vessels,so the research are not deeply yet,and there have almost none of rapidly rules for design and assessment about them.Well with the requirements of ocean oil platforms raising,Semi-submersible transport vessels will be more and more important in international maritime market,so there is particular significance for building a design regulation Semi-submersible transport vessels.This paper took a 50000t Semi-submersible transport vessel as example,according to the characteristics and loading requirements,the critical factors of general and structural design were studied and discussed.The main research content were:1.Studied the ship type characteristics,main dimension and stability criteria,and based on the criteria,the stability parameters of main loading conditions were calculated and assessed.Finally,selected the typical condition for the structure calculation.2.In the light of the main dimension and loading characteristics of Semi-submersible transport vessel,analyzed the structural design factors.And according to the factors,several new designs about midship section and other structures at important locations were put forward.Simply described the process of ship longitudinal strength assessment,and according to the CCS rules,the bending strength and longitudinal strength of ship girder were checked.3.Simply introduced the principle and process of design wave method,calculated the wave load of the Semi-submersible transport vessel in this paper.The results of wave loads in design loading conditions were obtained.4.According to the CCS rules for different ship types,find out the specific criteria for the semi-submersible.Using software MSC.PATRAN/NASTRAN,the global structural strength and transverse strength of this ship were calculated,and the results were assessed also.
