Navigation simulator has played an important role and has been applied widely in navigation education and training since it has appeared. With the high-speed development of science, kinds of new technology put into use in navigation field and new vessel types come forth as well, so the navigation simulators should keep updating and the functions of them should grow to be perfect. Semi-submersible vessel is a new type of vessel for the demand of international shipping market, it has a strong market competition for it can carry indiscerptible super large cargo. The semi-submersible vessel "TaiAnKou" is the first large special type vessel for ocean project which built in China, its appearance breaks few country's monopolization in international semi-submersible vessel market and gains good economical and social benefits. For the studying and training demand of semi-submersible vessel operators, it is necessary to research semi-submersible simulation system in the navigation simulator circumstance. The working process simulation of semi-submersible vessel is a part of the whole system. The paper is mainly on the flow and key technology in researching the simulation software of semi-submersible vessel's working process with the tools of Visual C++ 6.0. The main work of subject is including:1. Researches on the ship stability arithmetic of traditional marine loading software.2. Realizes the procedure with the tools of Visual C++ 6.0 in two aspects: seeking for the ship stability parameter and standard for the semi-submersible vessel's stability based on the clause of IMO A.749(18). Using Akima method when drawing GZ curves.3. Develops the procedure function on the ship stability calculation in static state. The paper researches the manners on the InterProcess Communication, decides do read-write operation on files and sets timer function to realize dynamic data exchange between InterProcesses. From the precision analyzing of stability calculation result in light ship loading condition and the actual effect of the buoyancy cases, the parameters' error of the result is about±2.0% except parameters relate to trim. Simulates tank capacity on the basis of max tank capacity data and ship section plane data, calculates stability result in different loading condition. At last, the procedure realizes data exchanging in dynamic. The result of the paper accords with the imitation needs and the procedure can be used in the Semi-submersible vessel simulation system.
