With the development of information and communication technology and the transformation of production and lifestyle,smart city is the product of combining the sustainable development of city and the application of new generation information technology.It has flourished worldwide in recent years.The operation and development of modern city depend on the infrastructure such as power supply,water supply and gas supply.The power grid is an important component of the city’s electric power infrastructure,and it plays an important role in smart city construction.As research and engineering practice continue,the related technologies of smart grid are widely used in power grid construction.The developing of smart grid is merged with smart city gradually.The research aims at supporting the construction and development of smart city by smart grid.The new-type urbanization strategy and the construction needs of smart city pilot are considered,the evaluation index system of smart city is given,and function of smart grid in city construction is analyzed.The demand of urban power intelligence update and emphasis of smart grid construction are confirmed.And then,combing smart grid with the smart city,single smart grid project with bright future is put forward.The design methods and objectives of smart grid project in smart city are proposed.Meanwhile,the smart cities are analyzed and classified by properties,and the smart grid construction strategies are studied for different types of smart cities.Finally,different smart city cases are given and its demand for smart grid construction is analyzed,and the smart grid construction strategy is designed.
