Mining areas are hotspots for the exploration and use of mineral resources and, subsequently, for the deterioration of the natural environment, characterized by conflicts between economic development and environmental protection.Using remote sensing to monitor the ecological environment of mining areas can not only improve the management efficiency of mining activities, but also facilitates the evaluation of mining area exploration and ecological restoration. There are many mining areas in Qian’an and Qianxi, where are the typical dense mining area(DMA).An index model suitable for iron ore region is established based on the Remote Sensing Ecological Index(RSEI),and the ecological environment of DMA and surrounding areas was evaluated.Using the Landsat series data of 1992,2000,2009 and 2018 as the data source, and choose seven indicators, included Fractional Vegetation Cover(FVC),Greenness Above Bare Soil(GRABS),Wet,Black Particulates(BP),Land Surface Temperature(LST),Iron Oxides(IO)and Landscape Fragmentation Index(LFI).Then, the Iron Mine-RSEI(IM-RSEI)is constructed using factor analysis. Finally, the index results of DMA are analyzed. The main research contents and results are as follows:1)The indicators of FVC,GRABS,Wet and LFI play a positive role in the ecology of the study area, and the other indicators of BP,LST and IO have a negative effect.2)After passing the KMO(0.602)and Bartlett(0.000)tests,the index weights are calculated according to the factor analysis results: the results of IM-RSEI from 1992 to2018 were 0.5102,0.4776,0.4882 and 0.5001.3)The ecological environment was destroyed first and then improved. The analysis of IM-RSEI shows that it can effectively evaluate the ecology of DMA.The IM-RSEI established for DMA can effectively assess the impact of mining activities on the ecological environment in the area, and it also enrich the ecological environment evaluation system and assessment content to a certain degree.Figure 27;Table 19;Reference 89...
