With the rapid development of China’s economy, more and more mining projects have been built overseas. While promoting local social and economic development, the continuous mining and processing of mineral resources will inevitably occupy the ecological resources around the mining area, causing land degradation, vegetation destruction, water and soil pollution in the mining area and the surrounding areas to be seriously polluted. In order to implement the concept of green mining, timely repair the impact of mining on the ecological environment and promote the sustainable development of regional economy,it is necessary to conduct timely, accurate and efficient monitoring and management of overseas mining areas. The traditional mining area monitoring methods are mainly manual surveys, with a long duration and low work efficiency, which require a large amount of manpower and material resources, and cannot meet the needs of large-scale regional surveys and dynamic monitoring information changes. As a comprehensive detection technology, remote sensing technology, because of its multi-temporal,high-resolution,wide coverage, accurate and objective features, can achieve long-term continuous observation of specific target areas, and quickly and efficiently provide its dynamic change information to indicate its The development direction has unique and irreplaceable advantages in ecological protection and socio-economic research in mining areas, especially in foreign mining areas. Therefore, the use of remote sensing technology to carry out the survey and monitoring of mining resources is of great significance to the monitoring and management of overseas mining projects. This article is completed in the context of the “Belt and Road” major project ecological and environmental impact assessment project of the “Belt and Road” sub-project of The Chinese Academy of Sciences pilot special earth big data science project. It is mainly aimed at the ecological environment and socio-economic problems caused by Chinese mining projects invested overseas, research on the remote sensing dynamic monitoring of the ecological environment and socio-economic impacts of the Channar Iron Mine in Australia. The work of this paper mainly includes the following aspects:(1)Briefly introduce the ecological environment and socio-economic status of the Channar mining area, and explain the remote sensing image and other relevant data sources and processing conditions selected in the article.(2)The Landsat series of images and meteorological data and other multi-source data are used to monitor the fractional vegetation coverage and vegetation condition index of the mining area for long-term serial remote sensing to analyze the impact of mining activities on the ecological environment of the mining area.(3)Based on the high resolution remote sensing image and multispectral image data to monitor the land use change and ecological resource status of the mining area in different periods, according to the land change and ecological resource monitoring results of the mining area, analyze the occupation and restoration of local ecological resources during the development and construction of the mining project.(4)Using the DMSP and VIIRS night-light remote sensing data from 1992 to 2018,to dynamically monitor the interannual dynamic changes and spatial-temporal distribution characteristics of the light index in the Channar mining area, analyze the socio-economic impact of the construction of the mining area on the local area, and analyze the different research scopes. The correlation between the mining area light index and the fractional vegetation coverage was analyzed to reveal the impact of the socio-economic development of the mining area on the surrounding ecological environment. The research content of this article can provide technical means and references for investment and construction of overseas mining projects, supervision of foreign projects by domestic departments, and evaluation of mining economic benefits. |
