Study On Farmers’ Willingness To Participate In Carbon Trading Projects And Influencing Factors

Global warming caused by carbon emissions has become a huge challenge for all countries in the world,and carbon trading is becoming increasingly important as an effective market mechanism to boost agricultural emission reduction and exchange increase.China is rich in biomass resources and has great potential for biogas emission reduction.Biogas engineering development projects based on carbon trading mechanism bring opportunities to promote the low-carbon transformation of agricultural industry and achieve the goals of "2030 carbon peak" and "2060 carbon neutral".As an important subject of biogas certified emission reduction(CCER)project,farmers’ willingness to participate is related to the process of agricultural carbon emission reduction in China.It is of great theoretical and practical significance to deeply explore farmers’ willingness to participate in biogas CCER project and its influencing factors.Based on the field survey data of Hubei,Hunan and Henan provinces,taking biogas CCER project as an example,this study analyzes farmers’ willingness to participate in carbon trading projects and its influencing factors.Specifically,firstly,descriptive statistical analysis is made on the current situation of farmers’ biogas value cognition,difficulty perception and willingness to participate in biogas CCER project.Secondly,based on sustainable development theory,externality theory and public goods theory,this research attempts to analyzes the applicability and necessity of constructing biogas engineering development projects through carbon trading mechanism,and introduces social interaction into the framework of MOA model analysis,and creates a theoretical model of influencing factors of farmers’ willingness to take part in biogas CCER projects.Finally,the expected carbon price of farmers’ participation in biogas CCER project was calculated by using the conditional valuation method.The factors influencing farmers’ willingness to participate in biogas CCER project were analyzed by using factor analysis and binary Probit model,and the endogeneity and robustness of benchmark regression results were discussed.The research results show that:(1)At present,farmers’ awareness of the value of biogas projects is mostly at the "general" and "large" level,and there is much room for improvement.The popularization of biogas CCER project faces great obstacles,and65.18% of farmers are unwilling to participate in this project.There are differences in farmers’ willingness to participate in biogas CCER project and their expected carbon price in different provinces.The order of farmers’ willingness to participate in biogas CCER project is Henan Province(41.22%)> Hubei Province(33.03%)> Hunan Province(25.59%).Among them,the average expected carbon price of farmers in Hubei Province is 14.43 ～ 38.57 yuan/ton,8.22 ～ 32.12 yuan/ton for farmers in Hunan Province and18.93 ～ 45.92 yuan/ton for farmers in Henan Province.(2)In the expanded MOA theoretical analysis framework,farmers’ opportunities to participate in biogas CCER projects are(0.024)> social interaction(0.010)> motivation(0.006)> ability(0.003).These four factors is the important factor to raise farmers’ initiative to participate,and the improvement of "motivation" can further strengthen the function of "ability".(3)Female farmers’ willingness to participate in biogas CCER project is more positively influenced by the interaction of "opportunity" and "ability",while male farmers are more positively influenced by "social interaction".Farmers in non-agricultural cooperative group are more sensitive to the positive effect of "motivation",while farmers in agricultural cooperative group will further improve their willingness to participate in biogas CCER project under the regulation of "motivation" and "ability","motivation" and "opportunity".Farmers with part-time experience are more sensitive to the interaction of "opportunity","opportunity" and "ability",while farmers without part-time experience are more sensitive to the positive effect of "ability".Based on this,in order to promote the promotion and perfection of biogas project and carbon trading policy,this paper proposes to establish and improve the dynamic mechanism of farmers’ participation in biogas CCER project,so as to improve farmers’ sense of value identity in biogas project.Improve the guarantee mechanism for farmers to participate in biogas CCER project,and create a good environment for farmers to participate in carbon trading.Cultivate farmers’ ability and mechanism to participate in biogas CCER project,and promote farmers’ cognitive ability and skills of carbon trading.Establish an organization and demonstration mechanism for farmers to participate in biogas CCER projects,and promote information communication and feedback in the process of carbon trading.Make carbon trading policies according to local conditions,and take into account the differences of farmers in different regions and different characteristics.
