The Yangtze River Economic Belt is a major national strategic development area and one of the most active areas in China’s economy.Carbon emissions in the Yangtze River Economic Belt have always accounted for about 30% of the total carbon emissions in the country. At the same time, the Yangtze River Economic Belt is also facing severe ecological and environmental conditions.Carbon reduction is one of the urgent tasks to be completed.Technology is a key factor affecting carbon emission reduction, and the technology spillovers effect of foreign trade is also one of the ways to obtain advanced technology.Improving carbon emission efficiency is a carbon emission reduction path in line with China’s national conditions. Therefore,it is important to study the impact of foreign trade technology spillovers on the carbon emission efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Through combing the research and related theories of domestic scholars,it can be seen from the existing research that foreign trade technology spillovers have the ability to promote the total factor productivity and technological progress of importing and exporting countries;the main way to improve the carbon emission efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is technological progress.Progress can promote carbon emission reduction and improve carbon emission efficiency. Therefore, this paper studies the impact of foreign trade technology spillovers on the carbon emission efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Zone.Taking the Yangtze River Economic Belt as the research scope, the SBM-DEA model is used to calculate the carbon emission efficiency from 2000 to 2018,and the import trade technology spillovers and export trade of 11 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt region from 2000 to 2018 are calculated.Technology spillovers, and then use the entropy model to analyze the regional distribution of technology spillovers absorbed by import trade and export trade channels in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.On the basis of a brief introduction of the foreign trade technology spillover and carbon emission efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the relationship between the two is discussed from two aspects: theoretical mechanism and empirical analysis. The empirical results show that: foreign trade technology spillovers have a positive impact on the carbon emission efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Belt;from a regional perspective, the stock of R&D capital obtained by export trade channels has promoted the improvement of the carbon emission efficiency level of the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, which has a positive impact on the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The promotion effect of the upstream is higher than that of the downstream;the R&D capital stock obtained by import trade channels promotes the improvement of the upstream carbon emission efficiency level, but it has no significant impact on the carbon emission efficiency level of the middle and downstream regions. After the return of import trade technology spillovers and export trade technology spillovers lagging behind for a period of time, this result is still stable. Finally, from the perspective of foreign trade, try to put forward policy recommendations that are conducive to improving the carbon emission efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Belt:vigorously develop foreign trade, optimize the structure of imports and exports;develop clean energy, optimize the energy structure;improve the level of human capital, and promote technology spillovers in foreign trade The absorptive capacity of the country;strengthen interregional ties, and all provinces work together to develop foreign trade together.
