With the continuous acceleration of urbanization,people’s material life has been rapidly improved,but with the continuous development of economy,there are also many negative effects,such as domestic garbage,which can produce hundreds of millions of tons of domestic garbage every year,which seriously affects the living environment of residents,and garbage classification is urgently needed.It is found that previous studies tend to use environmental science,management science,education and other theoretical knowledge to study garbage classification,and the research objects are more urban residents.In this paper,the group work method of social work is used to improve the environmental awareness of urban school-age children’s waste sorting,hoping to help school-age children develop environmental awareness and behavior habits of waste sorting.Through field investigation,it is found that school-age children in S community can receive less publicity and education on environmental protection in community,school and family,and the group’s awareness of environmental protection needs to be improved.According to the problems and needs of school-age children,group workers carry out professional group activities to help school-age children learn environmental protection knowledge of waste sorting,cultivate environmental awareness of waste sorting and develop behavioral habits of waste sorting.After the end of group activities,evaluate the intervention effect by comparing the front and back sides,summarize the experience and shortcomings of group work intervention,Improve the practical methods of group work.
