| With the progress of industrial civilization, human beings use science and technology to constantly improve their ability to understand and transform the world, and create more material and spiritual wealth. However, science and technology is a double-edged sword,it benefits mankind at the same time,it meets more and more prominent problems, one of the situations, people in the relationship between man and nature is not enough understanding, lack of means to control it,resulting in ecological problems. In particular,China put forward the construction of ecological civilization, ecological Marxist theory has gradually become a hot topic for domestic scholars. Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the ecological Marxism thought of Williams.Canadian scholar William Leiss is one of the main representatives of ecological Marxism. As a student of Marcuse,a famous scholar of Frankfurt School, his ecological Marxism thought inherits the critical spirit of Frankfurt School. The dialectical analysis of science and technology is carried out,and the concept of human control of nature is criticized. He thinks that controlling desire and constructing new social system is the solution to ecological crisis, and puts forward the viewpoint of harmonious symbiosis between man and nature. This paper focuses on the two monographs of "control of nature"(1972)and " limit of satisfaction "(1978),which systematically expounds the theoretical thought of William Leiss ecological Marxism. He thinks that ecological problems are the inevitable result of the accumulation of contradictions and conflicts between capitalist mode of production and natural ecological environment. He believes that people try to use science and technology to "control nature" and completely follow the command of nature to achieve the goal of "obeying nature" is wrong. The important contribution of its theory is to put forward that if we want to solve the ecological crisis fundamentally,we must completely reverse the idea of "anthropocentrism" and let people abandon the concept of "controlling nature ".In addition to the introduction, the paper is mainly divided into three chapters: the first chapter mainly introduces the social background and theoretical source of Williams’ ecological Marxism thought. The second chapter mainly narrates the main content of William Leiss’ s ecological Marxism thought. He discusses from four aspects: critical control of nature, interpretation of liberation of nature, analysis of human needs, and establishment of future society, forming his own unique theoretical framework. The third chapter analyzes the ecological Marxism thought of William Leiss. This paper affirms the theoretical contribution of William Leiss’ s Marxist thought of ecology, analyzes the limitations of his thought, and expounds the William Leiss’ s ecological Marx`s thoughts gives us an inspiration. |
