At present,the people aged 60 or above have reached 267 million in China,which means that China has officially ushered in an aging society.However,most of the furniture in the market now is still far from the actual needs of the elderly in terms of the functions and use experience.Although there is some furniture directed at the elderly,they are still in the initial stage,never forming a complete system in terms of the design philosophy.Based on the physical,psychological and social characteristics of the elderly,this paper analyzes and researches the daily life behavioral characteristics of the elderly,and extensively investigates the status quo of their use of furniture and their specific needs of furniture.In this way,use ergonomics theory to solve the inconvenience and problems in the process of using furniture in their daily life,try to summarize or enrich some targeted design methods and principles,as well as verifies through design practice.This paper consists of four parts: the first part mainly outlines the current situation of aging in China,clarifies the content,direction and significance of the research;the second part researches and analyzes the physiological,psychological and behavioral characteristics of the elderly and the behavior of the elderly and human-computer interaction problems;the third part investigates the current situation of furniture for the elderly and the analysis of existing products,and combines the questionnaire for the use of furniture by the elderly to put forward the design principles of furniture for the elderly,and finally the design practice according to the previous research content combined with the shape,structure,material and human-computer interaction and other factors in furniture design.
