Open-pit blasting design software and open-pit 3D geological model play an important role in open pit engineering design and production management.Choco-10 gold mine in Venezuela is an open-pit mine for which plans are being made to employ and focus on developing and applying advanced mining technology soon.At present, the blasting technology of the mine is old-fashioned,and the computer-aided design is still not in use. This approach increases the cost of production and worsens the blasting effect, and causes specific blasting harm to the surrounding environment.Similarly, the blasting development has low production efficiency concerning capital investment. In this paper, the blasting of the Choco-10 gold mine is taken as the research object, and the blasting status of the mine is systematically mastered based on field investigation.Based on the classical blasting theory, the advantages and disadvantages of the blasting parameters of choco-10 and the advantages of further optimization are studied.According to the characteristics of Vulcan-11 software and the actual characteristics of choco-10 in the gold mine, the possibilities of employing Vulcan-11 in the mine were discussed.Based on the primary data of satellite images,Vulcan-11 was used to build a three-dimensional mine geological model based on the blasting theory of open-pit mine.Vulcan-11 was also used to design the blasting area according to the designed blasting hole network parameters.Furthermore, the Vulcan-11 simulated the blasting parameters, especially in rock movement, millisecond simultaneous initiation amount, and other blasting simulations. Finally, the advantages of Vulcan-11 software in the production of the choco-10 gold mine were analyzed by using economics and technology.By drawing inference from the application of Vulcan-11 software, the blasting technology level of the Choco-10 gold mine was optimized by improving the production efficiency. It took 17 ms for the explosion to begin. For our patterns, each sequence lasted for 17 ms on the lateral direction, detonation for the laterally staggered pattern meshes, and 35 ms on the horizontal direction, respectively. The transition from the staggering lateral patterns showed a delay of 42 ms.The delays became 17 ms horizontally;however,a delay of 42 ms was observed laterally for the final rows of the parallel patterns. The delay of 42 ms can be explained based on the spacing between two parallel rows of blast holes, which seemed to be smaller than the other patterns in the software. This can also have an impact on the detonation energy and peak particle velocity(PPV).All the first staggered patterns from the detonation stats were charged with 198 kg in each blast hole. With the staggering patterns transitioning to the parallel ones in the last three parallel lines, the weight of the charges reduced progressively to 190 kg,105kg,and 131 kg,respectively.By color, the "blue" drills indicate the already detonated charges,"red" indicates those which are being detonated at that time, and "green" indicates those to be detonated or the following drills to be blasted. At each blasting sequence, the graph indicates a red line, which means the explosion is happening at that moment, and the spotted times of those specific moments are 2392 ms,2500ms,and2642 ms,respectively. The corresponding explosion charges are 192.5kg,242.5kg,and402.8kg,respectively.The detonation charge becomes very high in the third sequence because the detonation has already attained the last rows of the parallel patterns, which have a minimum spacing of 2.4m.In this research, energy distribution was assessed according to the proximity of the blasthole,as mentioned by the red and green colors due to the closeness of the spacing between the blast holes. The blue color indicates the entire space that was blasted. The wider the spacing is,the more boulders become during detonation. When spacing is closer and in an acceptable range, then the detonation of all charges will be likely to communicate, which generates a smoother and efficient rock fragmentation. In addition, the blasting harm was reduced, therefore implying that the surrounding environment was safe.It is essential to highlight that this technology in mining in Venezuela is highly innovative and without precedence.Currently, the country is developing, specifically,in mining, drilling, blasting, and extracting minerals called gold.Today the mineral is extracted in a traditional and rudimentary way.For this reason, the use of Vulcan 11 software will help create an essential role in the use of technology in the mining area in my country. It is important to note that due to the geographical position where Venezuela is located on the American continent,in South America, the climate and atmospheric temperatures never vary;that is,the same climate is maintained throughout the year, which is why it will not be seen affected the use and the results obtained in this case study and the use of the Vulcan11 Software.
