With the advent of the 'Industry 4.0' era,the demand for cutting tools has also shown a trend of diversification.Different machining processes,machining materials and precision requirements require different tool structures.Therefore,new technologies are needed to solve the problems of tool structure design and preparation.Scholars have found that biological teeth,claws and toes,body surface and internal tissue have the characteristics of labor saving,wear resistance,impact damage,self-interest,high strength and high toughness,which provide new ideas for the design and development of cutting tools.Firstly,the limpet's teeth were prepared,and the two-dimensional and three-dimensional structural characteristics of the limpet's teeth were extracted.The structural characteristics of the limpet's teeth were refined.The limpet's teeth structure was used as the tool structure,and the cutting simulation was carried out by Third Wave Advant Edge to explore the influence of the structural characteristics of the limpet's teeth on the cutting process.The structural parameters of the limpet's teeth were optimized according to the cutting force,cutting temperature and chip curl radius,and the optimal structural parameters were obtained.Through the simulation comparison with the linear,convex and concave structure,the superiority of the limpet's teeth structure in the cutting process is proved,and the structural design of the bionic tool is completed.Secondly,in order to explore the influence of the internal structure of the limpet's teeth on the strength and toughness of the tool material,the limpet's teeth was sliced and the internal structure of the limpet's teeth was observed.It was found that the high strength and high hardness of the limpet's teeth are due to its internal reinforcement fiber goethite.According to the characteristics of limpet's teeth,the mechanical properties of tool materials are improved by adding reinforced Si C whiskers into cemented carbide tool materials.Through ABAQUS simulation,it is proved that the bionic tool composite material has better elastic modulus and higher fracture resistance compared with ordinary tool materials.Thirdly,in order to explore the influence of hat shell teeth surface morphology on the friction and wear of tool surface,through the observation of limpet shell teeth surface,it is found that the surface has a villous structure and the growth direction of villi is along the growth direction of teeth.The surface morphology of the limpet's teeth is connected with the micro-textured cutter,and the groove-shaped micro-textured shape with a certain angle to the direction of the chip is designed.The DEFORM simulation shows that the bionic micro-textured cutter can reduce the cutting force,cutting temperature and tool wear.Finality,in order to verify the cutting performance of the bionic cutting tool,the complex structure of the bionic cutting tool is milled by five-axis machining center,and the superiority of the bionic cutting tool is verified by turning comparative experiments.It is found that the bionic cutting tool has the effect of saving force.The research results provide important reference value for the overall design process of metal cutting tools.
