Research On Bamboo Furniture Design Based On Sustainable Design Concept

As a long-term strategy for mankind to deal with environmental crises,sustainable design has attracted widespread attention from the society and has become a moral and ethic that designers should abide by.As furniture in daily life with huge demand,it is an inevitable trend to move towards sustainability.At present,people's furniture design under the sustainable concept is more considered from the technical aspects such as materials and craftsmanship.Taking bamboo furniture as an example,due to the health and environmental protection of bamboo materials and the sufficient supply of bamboo resources,people believe that bamboo furniture itself has natural sustainable characteristics,and no special consideration is needed in the design.As a result,the update iteration of bamboo furniture is faster than other furniture.,Especially in the northern area due to climate reasons,bamboo furniture has become one of the "shortest-lived" types of furniture,and the waste of resources is serious.On the other hand,bamboo boards using bamboo as raw materials overcome the defects of mechanical properties and service life to a certain extent,but the resource and energy consumption caused by the secondary processing of bamboo materials greatly compromises its sustainable characteristics.In addition,the current bamboo furniture design often only considers the design of the "creation" links such as shape and function,and ignores the "circulation" links such as packaging,transportation,use process,and product disposal.The latter is often the content of sustainable design.This topic aims at the practical problems in the design and production of bamboo furniture,combines the concept of sustainable design with the actual use of bamboo furniture,and responds to practical problems in terms of focusing on the life cycle of bamboo furniture and the long-term adaptability of the furniture to the indoor environment,and proposes the design Strategy.The design plan "Bamboo does not leave the house" series of bamboo furniture,from the perspective of establishing a sustainable relationship between people and furniture,is designed around the entire life process of furniture from purchase to disposal,making full use of the natural changes of bamboo from new to old in the use process.Continue to extend the service life of the furniture,and at the same time allow the furniture and the indoor space to adapt to each other in the process of "growth together".In addition,the surface visual characteristics and emotional value of bamboo materials are used in the design to give full play to the charm of bamboo furniture in different life stages.The thesis is divided into six parts,from the sustainable design concept,bamboo furniture design under the sustainable concept,the current sustainable furniture design problems,the sustainable design strategy of bamboo furniture and the sustainable design practice of bamboo furniture.Subjects are explored and learned.
