General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in the report of the Nineteenth National Congress of the Party : “Culture is the soul of a country and a nation.Cultural prosperity is national prosperity,strong culture is strong nation.” Each country has its own cultural characteristics,traditional culture represents not only our history,but also a spiritual power.The dress patterns of our country have experienced the influence of various dynasties and generations,and have rich cultural connotations,from the simple lines of primitive society to the rough and magnificent of slavery society,to the exquisite and rich feudal society.Gradually formed a variety of clothing patterns,showing the unique ancient Chinese clothing art.The use of our traditional patterns in current designs can fully demonstrate our people's pursuit of beauty and can also provide designers with more inspiration for their designs.Traditional patterns have been polished over time and are the essence of our dress art,full of national flavour and artistry.The study of free-form patterns is a separate pattern,which is special in shape,rich in meaning and numerous in number,and can well reflect the real social background of China's ancient times.Through the study of free-form patterns,we can grasp the development rules of dress patterns,and can understand more clearly the habits and way of thinking of people in ancient times,which will have a certain role in promoting the development of dress patterns in modern society.In recent years,haute couture clothing has been loved by people,among which dresses are the most prominent.Western-style dresses were introduced to my country in the 1840 s as Western ceremonial clothing.Under the influence of my country's national conditions,they became sinicized,and modern dresses were incorporated into Chinese traditional patterns.To perfectly blend the meaning of the pattern with the dress,make the design both classic and modern,and show the world the charm of my country's clothing culture.This thesis is based on the revival of Chinese traditional culture,combined with the fashion trends of recent years,the study of the combination of free-style patterns and dress designs is carried out.Through the analysis of the physical objects in the China Fashion Museum and the textual research in combination with related papers,works and other documents,fashion magazines,newspapers and periodicals,and the analysis of the shape and characteristics of the free-style patterns,we can understand the characteristics of the free-style patterns,the meanings of the patterns and each The changes of patterns in dynasties and the influence of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries on patterns,The thesis discusses the historical changes in free-form patterns,the composition of the bones,the colours,the production techniques and the symbolic meanings of the patterns.Through the study of freestyle pattern and cultural implication of dress,this paper analyzes the feasibility of the application of freestyle pattern in dress,understands the popular trend of modern international clothing,combines the artistic characteristics and cultural implication of freestyle pattern with dress,uses the traditional elements of freestyle pattern,such as structure,color,craft and so on,and designs a series of garments,and makes ready-to-wear works.The combination of free-style patterns and dress design allows for the inheritance and promotion of pattern culture and can better demonstrate the aesthetic and humanistic value of free-style patterns.
