In order to make up for the shortcomings of traditional passive vibration control devices,a new type of intelligent material,Magnetorheological elastomer(MRE),was introduced.This material performs active vibration control to cope with complex operating conditions.MRE is an intelligent magnetically sensitive material that evenly disperses magnetic particles in a polymer matrix.The mechanical performance and damping properties of MRE will undergo rapid,continuous and reversible changes under external magnetic field.Therefore,MRE has far-reaching application prospects in the field of vibration control.However,in practical engineering applications,MRE materials are difficult to be compatible with high mechanical properties and high magnetorheological effects,and the compatibility between magnetic particles and matrix is poor.The comprehensive performance of MRE materials is poor,unable to meet various requirements in practical engineering applications,which limits its application value.Therefore,according to the application requirements of MRE in specific situations,the preparation of MRE with specific performance will become the focus of future MRE research and development.In view of the above situation,this paper selected natural rubber as the matrix to study the effect of carbonyl iron powder on the vulcanization characteristics of MRE.Various types of carbon black,graphene,graphite and modified graphite filled natural rubber matrix were used to prepare MRE,and their comprehensive properties were characterized and studied.Through the research,two types of carbon-coated materials were found,which combine the magnetic permeability of carbonyl iron powder with the excellent performance of carbon materials such as reinforcement and thermal conductivity.Partial or complete replacement of the original carbonyl iron powder particles with different proportions of carbon-coated materials into natural rubber matrix for the preparation of MRE,and the dynamic and static mechanical properties,damping properties and microscopic characterization of the material were discussed.The research results showed that carbonyl iron powder had a certain promoting effect on the vulcanization process of MRE,and related mechanisms were discussed.The large particle size carbon black,graphene and modified graphite had significantly improved the dynamic mechanical properties and interface compatibility of MRE.The natural rubber-based MRE doped with carbon-coated materials not only improved the magnetorheological effect and mechanical properties,but also improved the controllability of damping,interface compatibility and the aging-resistant performance,so that it had a high comprehensive performance.These studies not only further broadened the application field of magnetorheological elastomers,but also provided feasible solutions for the development of high-performance magnetorheological elastomers.
