The engraving and printing technology of Shanxi in the Jin Dynasty and the bookengraving industry formed by it occupies an indispensable position in the history of ancient Chinese printing development.It has the historical development characteristics of early start time,long duration,wide engraving area and rich book engraving categories.Research on the factors that promoted the prosperity and development of Shanxi engraving and printing technology in the Jin Dynasty was a combination of many aspects.In the first part,by discussing the historical development of Shanxi engraving in the Jin Dynasty,the definition scope of the study is clarified.Analyze the geographical distribution characteristics of book-engraving,take Pingyang area in Shanxi as the core area,and take "Pingshuiben" as the representative of the book-engraving industry,as the key research object of the article.In addition,there are Taiyuan,Datong,Wutaishan and other regions as supplementary research.And on this basis,sort out the block-printed editions and related publication information of Pingyang and other engraving regions,in order to have a systematic understanding of their historical development.Then it explored the background and reasons for the prosperity of Shanxi engraving printing in the Jin Dynasty from the historical,national politics,culture,and policy angles,analyzed some special influencing factors in this historical period,and revisited some old one-sided conclusions.discuss.In the second part,two types of engraving techniques,namely Buddhist scripture engraving and engraving,are selected for analysis,and then they are understood to be the most representative engraving types of the times and regions,and they complement each other with the development of printing.By exploring the background of Buddhist scriptures in the Jin Dynasty and analyzing the Buddhist policies with practical characteristics at that time,it promoted the engraving and printing of Buddhist scriptures,which promoted the progress of engraving and printing technology.The formation of the book-engraving center and the development of printing are of great significance.Through the exploration of the historical achievements of Pingyang printmaking in the Jin Dynasty represented by "Four Beautiful Pictures",the analysis and research of the engraving techniques,the characteristics of the subject,the development of time and region,etc.,have seen the contribution of the Pingyang printmaking system to the development of Shanxi's engraving and printing.The third part explores the engraving and printing process of Jin Dynasty in Shanxi from the perspective of related science and technology,including engraving process,papermaking process and mounting process.First of all,combining the methods of fieldwork and oral interviews,focusing on the research on the materials,tools and engraving process of the engraving and printing process,and making simple comparisons with ancient technology and craftsmanship,in order to have an intuitive understanding of engraving and printing technology.Secondly,using literature and modern experimental research methods to explore the historical origins of Pingyang papermaking,analyze the technological characteristics of Pingyang hemp paper craft,and summarize the effect of Pingyang area's unique hemp paper craft on the development of Shanxi engraving in the Jin Dynasty.Finally,it explores the characteristic and representative scroll-mounted Buddhist scriptures binding process of the gold-engraved book binding.The fourth part summarizes the historical position and value influence of Shanxi engraved editions in the printing history of the Jin Dynasty.They have made great contributions to the development of literature,art,medicine,and religion.The article uses a combination of literature research,field surveys,oral interviews and experimental research to enumerate and study the Jin Dynasty Shanxi engraving represented by Ping Shui engraving from different angles,and analyze the forces that promote its progress from a diverse perspective.It helps us understand the various factors that promoted the development of Shanxi engraving and printing in the Jin Dynasty,thereby attracting more researchers to the academic research interest of traditional handicrafts in this era and region.
